I'm sick will my piggies get sick?

Okay so this may a very stupid question but I read that of I have a cold than I can get my piggies sick?
I havr to clean their cage today but I don't want to get them sick. I am very sick but for my guinea piggies I could pull myself togeather to clean their cage, could I try and cover my mouth with a shirt or bandana andwash my hands really well. Their cqge is a day over due. I dont think anyone else could help me out, my mom is just as sick and my dad doesnt.... like my piggies lol. Can anyone think of a nythink of anything? Also I'm updating from my phone I am very sorry for any mistakes in my spelling. Thanks everyone

i would think you would be ok cleaning the cage but i wouldnt handle them or be near them too much, this is only my opinion.

I have a stinking cold at the moment and am trying not to handle mine, I am hand sanitising like a loony too, was really paranoid when giving them their hay earlier, sneeze, hand sanitise, sneeze, hand sanitise etc etc.

Okay thank you, I had to push it off another because the fleece hadnt dried yet and I went back to sleep, In a moment or so I'll be cleaning their cage.

I've heard they cannot catch a human cold but steering clear of too much handling 'til you're over it can't be a bad thing,better safe than sorry.
I'm the same at the moment, avoiding the cage clean until tomorrow :{

Opinions are divided over whether they can catch cold or flu from us, but I think that good hygiene and less handling won't hurt.
