I've spied a pair of piggies (sex unknown) on a facebook selling page in my area for £20 and my god, I'm so tempted to just buy them to stop them being bought by someone who might not care for them! I need to work on my self control :P

Wow so I asked the seller out of pure curiousity and one is a male and the other female, 4 months old - what's the betting the poor female is preggers?!

I'm now truly conflicted as to what I should do now :( Hate seeing things like this, ignorance is bliss with this sort of thing!

Edit: They are also brother and sister, this is just getting worse!

I know, I'm now contemplating buying them just so she doesn't get pregnant with her brothers babies again :(

Can you afford to house her and babies? If she has a difficult birth you will need vet help. I totally understand you want to rescue her but you have to think if you can cope.

It is very hard, since I got my two lovely guineas I keep looking on certain sites and I find my self looking not so much at the guineas but trying to see their living conditions its like a self torture.Good luck whatever you decide

Yes thinking through the money shouldn't be much of an issue (I get student loan in a week and have almost finished uni for the year so I can work as much overtime as I want), it would be more space and my mum going bonkers having more animals in the house! The seller just replied again ( I asked if the brother was neutered and if the female was likely to be pregnant) and he said she was too young to get pregnant (she's 4 months?) So I'm thinking they may both be male? This guy doesn't seem to have a brain cell!

I'm leaning towards taking them in and just dealing with my mums wrath, if she is 100% a she then she needs someone who kind of knows guinea pigs (and with expert opinions) to get her through. I've never personally seen a case of idiocy on a local site like this before so it's a bit of a shock!

Even bringing the idea up to mum unleashed a tirade :( I'm very conflicted, don't want to go against my mum but I'm very concerned about their welfare

I don't suppose there's anyone on this forum in/around Kent able to house these beauties? Massive long shot but desperate for them to go to a knowledgable home, I've contacted a local rescue who have sometimes had guinea pigs, fingers crossed they have room.

I really hope the rescue has space. What a stupid person saying she is too young to be pregnant.

I do too, they're a brilliant rescue so I know they'd be going somewhere caring, even if they don't take in piggies often. And I really had to restrain myself from giving a reply to that! She's either missexed and actually a boy, or very heavily pregnant and he is just unaware - either way he's ridiculous!

I wonder if you can take them just until you find them a rescue place. I am thinking what if she gives birth or something while with the male. What a mess.

I propositioned that scenario to my mum, she said no to that too - but I'm going to keep asking her anyway. I'd rather be inconvenienced for a short time then mum and/or babies suffer!

You are such a lovely and caring person. Could you look after them at a friends? You would need a very close friend.

I've already messaged most of my close friends and family, sadly none are able for a few reasons (landlords, etc). My closest friend seemed to be considering it but her daughter is disabled so I think it would be too much for her to handle sadly :( I'm going to keep asking around, fingers crossed my parents either give in or someone is able to help!

i feel your pain the minute i spotted the 2 piggies i have just given a home to i first told myself no but then i called the owner found out there were living in a makeshift hamster cage well that was it the deal was sealed how could i walk away it was fate for them piggies...thats why i was drawn to them

I just wish I could help but I have no space or money for vet fees. I really hope your mum changes her mind.

As do I! There's a member on a Guinea pig group on facebook who is willing to house them if they can be taken to Leeds, hopefully someone comes forward to help with transport!

I just hope somebody can transport them. Maybe you could open a thread asking on here?

I'm in Kent, where are you/they? poor mites. would the seller even have sexed them correctly?!

They are in Ramsgate in Thanet. And that's my thinking, either he's missexed and they're both boys or she's ready to drop! It would be brilliant if you were able to take them in, they seem well kept but the guy just seems pretty clueless

Have you seen photos? is the sow huge? we are in tunbridge wells and id looove to take them but i just dont think i can commit with 2 baby boars and 2 baby humans. will speak to husband though. its so sad :(

I tried to see if one was particularly large but the owner only uploaded one photo which isn't very clear :( Thank you for caring though, even if you can't take them! It's so hard wanting to help but not being able to :(

Could you ask for a photo of both maybe? Did they say the reason they are no longer wanting them?
