So I found out today that I can go and pick my two girlies up anytime after the 9th June (they'll be 7 weeks old)! :<>
They'll be my first piggies, and I am so excited! I've just got to go shopping to get the last few bits for them, and think of names too :)
Also, I started building their cage today, and I'm almost done (just got the base to add). If anyone can give me some tips on how to secure a lid to the cage I would be very grateful (I have 3 dogs, who aren't allowed upstairs, but if they ever got into my piggies, I would be devestated. So better safe than sorry!).

I guess it depends on what sort of cage and lid it is. I use a carabiner clip to hold my lid up when I want to get into the cage and to close the lid when I want to keep dogs and small kids out. In the photo below it is that blue clip holding the lid to the upper story bars.

And congratulations! I know how exciting it is to be getting things all ready for new piggies.

If you have dogs, a proper shop bought cage with a lid is safer than a C & C cage really in my opinion. :)

Well the dogs are not allowed upstaris. They got upstairs one and after that we bought a baby gate to make sure that they don't get up there anymore (which they don't). The door to the room with them in will also be closed when I am not up there with them. I just want to add a lid so I don't have to worry so much. Its more of just an added safety prcaution. The chances of the dogs getting upstairs and into them aren't high at all.

If you really want to be safe your going to need to get a man to do diy lol. With a c and c you could make a lid out of wood and chicken wire and fix it to one side and get sturdy clips at the other and the sides. That way it can just be lifted straight up. Would advice c andc panels as a lid as they can be jumped on by doggies and its a faff to get in and out as well. Alternatively fit an lock to the outside of the door so they def can't get in. Would be a lot cheaper

Thanks for the suggestion about the lock on the door. I never thought about it, and I will definately be looking into that. Thank you.
