Well I got a nice new veggie slicer for the piggies veggies. It came with a protective glove which I chose not to wear and sliced the tip of my finger and half of my fingernail. With four stitches, the doctor is hopeful that I won’t lose the tip. I did get through 6 peppers and a whole thing of celery without injury. It was the carrot that got me. It slices very well obviously.077B9F1B-8CF0-4F3F-B4E9-D56A11EC8964.webp I guess I’ll wear the glove next time.

Ouch, not a great mistake to make. I like you would have ignored the glove.

Hope it gets better real soon. Make sure you wear the glove next time!

:yikes::yikes:Ouch wouch nouch! That's what my Gran said when something REALLY HURT. I would have ignored the glove too and the same thing would have happened to me. Hard lesson to learn. You won't be doing that again!

Ouch! Sending lots of healing vibes. The things we do for piggies in the line of duty

Oh dear, that looks painful. Hope it gets better quickly so that you can resume you guinea pig slave duties. :D

Woa, those mandolins are lethal, I hope your pinky heals quickly x
I would have ignored the glove too

Oh my god! You numpty! (Have done this before and also managed to put an axe in the tip of my finger) no repeat performances please

Ouch! I'm a clutz in the kitchen too, a few small cuts every now and then when cutting the piggies' food but good thing never as bad as what you have. Get well soon! At least you now have an excuse for hubby to do the cutting. :tu:

I’ve been sitting on the couch binge watching TV all day with my hand up in the air. It is throbbing quite a bit! My poor 3 year old daughter saw it happen and I think was a little traumatized by the blood and now by the huge bandage. She has been super sweet and hasn’t been asking me to do much for her today.

OMG. I am so fearful of those mandolin slicers. And now I know why. You poor, poor, thing. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Eek that looks a dangerous machine, if excitingly sliced veg! I wouldnt dare have anything like that because piggy daddy is a clumsy klutz with a blood clotting problem that means he bleeds a lot, he can't be trusted with a blunt kitchen knife without a serious risk of hospitalisation- he's more a plastic spoon under supervision kind of chef... healing wheeks and I hope your piggies were grateful the risks you take to fix them dinner! X

Lol, they were grateful, but mad they didn’t get the carrot for dessert. I threw those away in case they had blood on them!

I joined the apparently numerous ranks of those afflicted with 'avocado hand' injuries last year. Roll on plastic surgery at a specialist hospital.

The thing was, it was a plain dinner knife, nothing sharp, that caused the injury. When another of the same knives nearly caused a second hand injury they were dispatched to the charity shop.
