Gavin & Spencer

My little boy Spencer (Tricolour) has been coughing again over the pass couple of days and I'm worried about him...he orginally started coughing after his trip back from the vet back in September after "the snip", I contacted my vet who gave him some anti to take for 10days and the cough seem to go away.

He is not coughing all the time and he is active, still playing with Gavin, eating his pellets/veg, drinking water etc...

Any feedback would be great....

Thanks!:))

Thanks for your post..

The coughing has been going on/off for about a week now.

I dont know the name of the antibiotic to be honest but it was a clear substance if that is any help...sorry!

I weighed him last Sunday and he was 651g

Sorry to hear about Spencer. I can't offer advice sorry, I have to leave that to the experts, but I hope the little fella gets better for you. xxxxx

I think it would be worth getting a vet to check him over. Does his breathing look normal? My vet uses the antibiotic Zithromax for respiratory infections, and the results are excellent. However you would need to assertain whether it is a respiratory infection and not something else causing the coughing.

If he is otherwise fit and well I would stop all treatment for 2-3 days. If he gets better then he had nothing the matter, as such. If he is still having problems then the original diagnosis and/or treatment were incorrect.
How often is he coughing, most pigs cough from time to time?

Spencer update

Thanks for your kind words and tips!

Brought Spencer to the vets tonight just to be on the safe side she checked his heart and found that he is wheezing slightly so he back on the meds..another 10 day course of Baytril but this time the dose is slightly higher so hopefully this will clear things up!

The the cause of this cought we are still not sure but as they are so prone to problems in this area I feel better for getting it checked out.
