my friend has two guinea pigs that she bought for her children but they aren't very tame and the kids have lost interest in them. They pay very little attention to them and have moved them outside today even though it has been freezing cold where I live. They fought when they were younger (one ripped a part of the others ear off) and they separated them and put them back together six months later. They're still not great with other and have squabbles very often. They pay them very little attention and clean them out once a week or every 10 days which is generally fine as their hutch is huge so doesn't get too dirty, however, I'm worried about them. I feel that the drastic environment change will make them fight again as they have never been 100% with each other and that they may become ill from such a big temperature drop. I don't want to upset her or get too involved so how should I let her know. I tried hinting that she should leave it but she says that they 'should be fine'. Help! xx

It is always extremely tricky when you worry about the pets of a family member or a friend. All you can do is continue to ask how the boys are doing. Don't push any advice down her throat, as that unfortunately just sets up people's hackles.

I agree that this weather is not right for putting piggies outside, but your options are sadly rather limited! :(

Unfortunately for your friend the piggies are only toys... and now they are not useful toys, therefore they are simply a "nothing", a boring trouble. If they will die your friend will have a trouble less.
What to do? I don't know... because she will not change anyway... I am sorry for you because I can imagine your anger and also your disappointment.
At least you have discovered a new side of your friend's personality... something useful for the future.

Would you be in a position to take them? If so, you could keep raving about how cute they are, and how you would love more piggies, and you never know, she might offer them to you.
