Hi
I have a nearly 3 year old boar who I think is starting to become a little bit impacted.
We have been checking him every day, and give him a little 'squeeze' if he looks like he has a lump which needs to come out.

We are leaving him with a guinea pig boarder for 3 days while we go away-will we need to ask his carers to do this, or will he be ok till we get back?

I'm not sure if they'll be keen to do this, - or is it normal for them to do this sort of thing?

?/

If its a good boarding place then they should be ok to do this, if not then explain to them and show them how to do it. He should ideally be checked every day or two. I dont think it will be the end of the world if he isnt cleared but it would be much better for him if he is daily.

x.

I used to clean out daily with one of our boars........
I'm sure if you explain that he'll become uncomfortable they'll be prepared to do this for him.
Hope you have a lovely time away :)

In my experience the boars that I have come across needed checking on a daily basis, some needed help twice a day and some once a day. What I have found is an ear bud in vegetable oil swirled gently around the sac after emptying seems to help the poo's slide out better.
