Hi
I’m really worried about my boy. He’s 5 now and recently he’s started to become quite impacted. We clean him out every day and took him to the vets yesterday.

She basically said it’s old age and there wasn’t much we could do apart from clean him out.

He’s still eating but he’s just not himself, he squeaks when he poos like it’s painful. We’ve changed his diet as the vet said he needs lots of leafy greens (he was getting lots anyway but he’s now having more!). He just sits in the corner of his house and doesn’t really come. We’re really worried about it. We have some metacam so he’s having that but I wondered if anyone had any other suggestions to help him?

Many thanks

Kate (and Giz)

Hi! Please take the time to read our impaction care guide. It contains several helpful videos and an impaction carer's diet and care tips. We have tried to make the guide as comprehensive as possible: Impaction Recovery - How To Help Your Guinea Pig.
