So I already have one double hutch that I lined sometime ago...today however after the DIY antics of @Tim and who turned another double into a combined double hutch I noticed the state of the hutch which is only turning a year old this summer. It's a Chartwell and whilst the quality is good, I'm sure their are better ones out there any...I digress.
This was the floor, whilst painted, it doesn't last with the rigours of everyday use.
As you can see even pre clean you can see the floor is degrading.
So today I purchased a piece of lino 2 X 6ft x 3.5ft.
I used:

As you can see I've done up the sides except for the divider, mainly because I've done that before and it doesn't always work.
Firstly, I lay out the lino with the front facing down and mark out the cuts and scores exactly where they will be. I only do one cut for each corner so I can fold in behind the larger piece going up the wall. I mark out where I need to score on the patterned side so it folds easily between the floor and the wall. (slurp- that's the tea going down). Just remember you mark the lino of what is going to be the rear of the hutch and the front. The front is much shorter than the rear.
Sometimes I've been able to fit the lino in both compartments depending on the height of the divider. On this occasion that wasn't possible so I use a small off cut to lay underneath the divider and underneath the main flooring.
Well you can see the finished product. It means the integrity of the floor remains, it's easier to clean, it's slightly padded so it's nice for the piggies. It's easy to sweep out.
So enjoy, the piggies whilst not making any appreciative noises, they were rewarded with rocket and spinach dinner, fresh hay and readigrass.
Me...well I get easy clean, happy state of mind.
