Hello everyone.

I write to ask if you can please all do me a huge favour.

I am currently in the process of setting up a hedgehog hospital and running it along side the guinea pig shelter.

I've had a fantastic response locally and i've managed to secure support from local vets and shops etc. However, I'm now going to the council to ask for a grant to equip me with all the essentials to be able to take in larger numbers.

Please can I ask (only if you think my project is a good idea of course) to write a brief email to me basically just stating that you think it's a good idea, sending your best wishes and support.
The more I can prove to the council that I have support and well wishers behind me the more likely I am to receive the grant.

If you can please spare me 5 minutes of your time, can you please direct any emails to [email protected] as this is where my rescue emails need to go.

many thanks for your time
Claire

Ps. I will let you know how I get on. The application takes 4 weeks but they have promised to push it through sooner as my hedgehog residents currently live on my kitchen table...lol

What a wonderful idea, how many do you have at present?

I'll email you.

P.S. Good luck

I have a large adult male living in a hutch outside. He is blind so cannot be released. Then I have 2 babies weighing just 200 grms each and one of 350 grams. These 3 are too small to make it through the winter unless kept warm and supplied food. They are living in cages on the kitchen table.

I'l post a picture in a minute.

Thank you for your email and support.

This is Matilda.
She weighs 350 grams and is very friendly. She currenlty walks around on the kitchen floor in the evenings, not afraid of having us around.

Have sent email to you - hope it's okay.

Cannot wait to see pictures, I love hedgehogs

Ahh, she's gorgeous - I hope they all put on weight soon. She looks like she has a good appetite anyway :-)

Hi Claire, I really admire you for wanting to help these wonderful creatures. I am in the course of drafting an email of support, hope it helps and keep up the good work.:) ps Henry is adorable.x)

Just sent you the email now.:)

Beautiful pictures of the little hoggys. I have a friend on another forum that takes hedgehogs in and looks after them when they need help - I will ask her if she can do an email to you too.:)

Ah how adorable are those hedgehogs.
We don't have them in Australia....the nearest spikey critter we have in an echidna....totally different from a hedgehog.

Send you an email. Hope you'll get the funding and support.

I've emailed too, hope i wasnt too late.

I had the opportunity to care for a hog earlier this year but i couldn't administer the antibiotics by mouth. Thankfully we got her to a rescue where she got the treatment she badly needed & was eventually released somewhere safe.

Hog rescues are so badly needed; we need to look after our wildlife - i take my hat off to you, it a wonderful thing you are doing!

The article looks great, I hope it brings some local support and that the council stumps up the funding you need.:)

Hi

I have hedgehogs in our garden, last year I found one iin next doors garden, which was coming out in the day, so put him in a box and in one of the runs until he stopped coming out in the day, he was only a baby.
I then had an old cat box, filled this with newspaper and hay and put a waterproof cover over the top, and placed in the garden between the 2 conifer trees. He now comes out at night when he pleases as the box is open all the time, he also has friends and we feed them every night.
I think it is a wonderful idea.

Jaye

A brilliant idea, just disappointed I got here a bit too late! The article is fab too, hope that gets your plan the attention it needs to get going. Keep us updated :)
