We lost little Pabst about an hour ago. Out of nowhere. He was perfectly fine this morning and this afternoon my fiance went into the room to check on them and he was in his pigloo taking his last breaths. 8...
He wasnt even 6 months old..I'm so shocked/heartbroken. I feel like a bad mom..maybe I overlooked something that could have saved him.
His cagemate Harvey is all alone now 8...

I'm so very sorry for your loss. Sometimes these things just happen as piggies hide their ailments so well. It could have been a congenital problem.

I know exactly how you feel - I'm so sorry for your loss. Please don't blame yourself - Pabst was obviously well loved and had a happy life. It just hurts when they go and you can't save them.

Thanks everyone. I'm thinking I'm going to get Harvey neutered and get him a girlfriend to live with since he doesn't get along with our other two boys and even him and Pabst had been getting into little arguments recently..probably better off with the opposite sex.

Pabst was a stunner and I am so sorry that that he had to leave you and his frined so soon!

Heart problems can hit without warning at any age. Sometimes, signs of an illness can be so subtle that it is all too easy to miss them. Guinea pigs are prey animals and will hide instinctively anything that is wrong for as long as possbible.

I have found it very difficult to cope with a sudden death - it is the sheer shock that takes quite some time to digest and then all those feelings of guilt in the next phase before your heart can make peace again.
