So, I have been pretty quiet for a few months now, they haven't really been good ones.
In September I lost Romeo, after a brief but difficult battle with gut stasis. He became an in patient at the vet but was so poorly and so antisocial (he hated people and I don't think he would have missed other piggies really) that I feel it was all too stressful for him and opted to have him euthanized. This was after 3 days of them struggling to get him to swallow his syringe feed, he was just holding it in the back of his mouth and letting it rot. Even worse this was all when I was I was out of the country, so my poor brother had been responsible for him in the most part. He left his two girlies behind.
Then at the end of October we found sweet Acorn had just passed away over night. Acorn was one of the very few females from the 285 rescue in feb 2012. She was a very 'fair but firm' character. Quiet but bold and the best companion to her husboar Harvey, who had always been a spirited boy! She was my first ever sow so I had a little soft spot for her and her gorgeous chubby cheeks! Thankfully Harvey happily mixed with Rummer and Lupin, Romeos ladies.
Then on the 2nd of this month I found my beautiful, beautiful Blake had passed away. He was also a 285 rescue boy. He never actually made it into a rescue center (he was supposed to be going to Woodgreen) but I fostered him as they had no space and we'll ... I fell in love with him and stole him. He is one of the sweetest, gentlest piggies I have had the pleasure of owning. He was part of 3 sucessfull boar trios, first him, Finn and elderly Pickwick, then him, Finn and gulliver and lastly him, Finn and Noah. He lived his last 8 months with just Noah and they were literally inseparable. Blake had cancer so I knew he wasn't going to last forever and I think getting to 6 with a poor start in life and Ill health at the end is amazing. But I miss him so much, he was the best cuddler and gave little kisses. Noah was very depressed, and went to be bonded at a rescue a few days ago which went very well, I do think he's missing his mate still though.
Rip my beautiful piggies <3
