Hello all! I have a problem pig who has long standing gut and bladder issues and generally requires a lot of delicate foods. He is obsessed with hay. It's his favourite thing in the world and far be it from me to remove it from him when he adores it, so I'm trying to find something a bit better for him than the local pet shop half bale of...well, it's called meadow hay, but it's closer in looks to timothy tbh. Reasonably green, some seed heads and the like. It's definitely not dust free which is an issue for him because he has hay fever (I know...) and also I suspect is not doing him any favours in keeping the calcium levels low. He loves being in his hay, it's a bed, a meal and a friend to him, so I can't take that away from him when it makes him so happy, which means I need to find large quantities (they're indoor and the cage is stripped completely every 3 days, with a hay change every morning). I also know he can't cope with the very green hay because I've tried that in the past and while he LOVED it, his tummy did not.

I'm looking for I suppose an orchard hay? but in bulk, and I don't seem to be having much luck. Does anyone have any suggestions either on types of hay or suppliers? I had a dig through the stickied thread but the quantities on sale for orchard hay are not huge compared to the literal half bale I get through every 6 weeks at the moment! Am I just missing something?
Thanks for any help available!

Oh that's brilliant, thank you for that, I'll be sure to have a look!

If you have a local stable or feed merchant nearby they can often be a source of large bales of very reasonably priced hay.

I actually do have a WindmillFeeds nearby, so I might give them a go too, thank you!
