Just curious to hear where you have placed your guinea pig cage, in what type of room and why you chose that place :)
Currently mine is in the livingroom next to the sofa (no TV or high sounds) - but I might need to move them either to the upper floor livingroom or downstairs hobbyroom.

In the living room, there's no room in the bedrooms and we don't have any other rooms. This is a miniscule house!

We live in a open plan flat so they are in our living space, technically in the dining area but they are behind the sofa!

Spare bedroom. Which is also my office, craft room.etc. There's a sofa bed in here and I keep thinking that if we didn't have that I could build a much bigger cage! But then the sofa has its uses so the piggies and I will have to stick with our compromise.

Chose this room as we also have a cat. Other options were a bit too risky given that the cat is a bit of a hunter. Liked that I could shut the door and not have to worry.

Eddie and Elvis are in the kitchen/ dining room. It's the only space their cage would fit easily in and it also means it's easy to get them out for floor time. I love that they are right there every time I come in (which is a lot) but I does mean it's impossible to open with fridge without them noticing 😂😂

They started off in the shed, 25 years ago, with a playpen in the living room for the evenings. That didn't last long (about a fortnight) and then they were in my bedroom for many years. I have three bedrooms so could have put them out of the way, but I wanted them close by. Then about 5 or 6 years ago I tried moving them to the living room and I realised how much priceless guinea pig behaviour I'd been missing. An absolutely huge jumpy popcorn sticks in my mind.

I'm sure visitors think I'm loopy setting aside a large portion of my living room for the piggies, but they're family and entitled to their space. One thing I've noticed is that being able to watch the piggies' antics in the living room means I don't cuddle them quite as much as I used . They might be happy with that though!

I wouldn't mind too much about the everyday living room noises. I am grateful that in this solidly built Victorian house, they haven't worked out the fridge noise even after all this time. The noise of hay being collected from their Hay Box however results in screaming and pacing about. I'd never change a thing about them xx

Aw, the living room be great if only we could shoehorn them in. We did bring Ted in when he lost Bill and it was lovely to watch Ted and keep him company 😁

The living room, although technically the entire floor (living, dining and kitchen) is fairly open plan.
And it's noisy - the children used to have a constant stream of friends around, plus one plays trumpet and one plays cello - the piggies never seemed too bothered by any of it to be honest.

Mine are in an open plan living, dining, kitchen area mainly because we have most space there and a nice easy to maintain floor (upstairs is all carpeted). there was also plenty of space to expand the cage, change the layout etc, and easy access to get outside with them in summer., and space to set up an indoor run during winter. Another advantage is that i can get outside to empty all the leftover hay and poops straight into the outdoor waste collector to go into our recycling bin. its mostly quite for them, however our busy periods are evenings and weekends, and I was worried they would be too disturbed by the noise, but they seem fine. We also have a TV there, but most of the time the volume is turned right down and children watch TV using headphones. The only thing with having them within earshot of the kitchen is that they hear opening of the fridge door, chopping of food etc and squeak like mad thinking its time for their treat too! so i just have to ignore it. same with going ouside...they squeak at the slightest jangle of keys expecting I'm going to bring in some grass for them. the main advantage though is that we can sit and watch them or notice behaviours while we are getting on with our own activities.

Front Room. . I spend time with them . I sit hours reading and watching them

Then we have floor time in middle room. . But this can turn into few days.
This is great for them but slave has to turn telly down and kitchen is in sight. .
Making a brew is impossible as fridge monitors need to know if treats are still in there. .

Mine are in the living room with me, they are my furry family. I can see them and talk to them when I'm at home and can watch them interact with each other. I have two bonded pairs each side of the sofa and I also have a foster house rabbit who has his home in the bay window of the same room but he has the run of the living room (its 'bunny proofed'). He isn't bothered about the piggies but cannot make contact with them even if he wanted to. I love to watch the way my piggies interact with each other and they often make me smile  they are very interesting and lovable characters.

That is one cute piggie . .

Not in the house, currently in the shed bit they have their own secure area outside during the warmer months. We have terriers so had to be very sure they were safe.

Mine are in the garage which is attached to the house. They live in a big hutch and do timeshare in the run every other day. In the summer they go outside every day if it's not raining.

Mine used to be in the dining room until I moved them out end of the summer. I miss them terribly and use clean out day/nail cloooing/weigh-in as chances to spend some little time with them. I have to say Toffee seems to want even more attention than before now. When I open the hutch door, I’ll usually find him right there. He relaxes and chats to me when I stroke him.

They take up my whole dining room and quite often encroach into my living room depending on what i'm fostering at the time. We are kitting out the conservatory this winter to become a permanent piggy room then I'll finally have more storage space for their stuff!

Hey I know this is an old post, but your set up sounds like mine *may* be, *if* we get Guinea Pigs. We have a cat, too, and would plan to keep the GPs in the study. Do you have a roof on yours? I am assuming so, if you have a cat! What size is your set up, could you send me a photo? Where did you get your hutch or home for them? How are you finding keeping the piggies as well as having your other pet cat? And do you have children, too? :)

Used to be in extended kitchen as it has tiled floor so easy to clean and great view of fridge! And second pair in piggie shed as they preferred outdoors.
Now they're all in my spare room to give them more space and to bring my elderly piggies inside for the winter.

Hello. The boys each have a 120cm section from a Ferplast Plaza 160 cage. They have a divide down the middle as they don't like to share...my husband made a wooden bar which holds the two cage bases together.

They also have a similar sized play pen each for a change of scenery.

The cat will occasionally sit on the sofa and stare at the piggies but he's not usually allowed in here without supervision. He's just got used to the idea that he's not supposed to bother them I guess...although we do make sure the door is closed if we leave the house.

No kids here.

I'll take a photo for you in a bit... currently got a piggy on my lap and he's snoozing. :)
