Tato (left)... Such a sweet face. Looks like butter wouldn't melt. He's been with his 4 weeks older brother Sweeney for about 2 weeks now. Most of the time they sleep/rest apart but I have found them cuddled up together occasionally. Bonding seems to be going well, even though they are complete opposites. Tato hates being held and always wants to jump, climb and explore. He is NOT fan of sitting still! Sweeney loves a good rest and is very placid. They're 9 weeks and 13/14 weeks.
Felt so sorry for poor Sweeney today. Tato just would not leave him alone. Constantly trying to hump him, leading to Sweeney making lots of little chirpy noises and dashing away from him. You could see him getting quite fed up with Tato. He'd be trying to eat then Tato would jump on him and he'd run off, with Tato chasing him. As annoyed as he seemed to get though, there's never been any proper fighting or blood drawn. Later on things calmed down and they were both out sitting near each other snacking on some hay/veg. My first two piggies got on perfectly from day 1. Never had to worry about them. These guys have me all paranoid. I've read through all the information on bonding and dominance behaviours and I'm leaning towards this being acceptable? I know humping and chasing are normal dominance behaviours and I know it can take more than 2 weeks for things to settle. Sweeney will eat around Tato. He just couldn't get peace to do that earlier. Tato is just so obsessed with humping him at times. Hopefully someone can set my paranoid little mind at ease and tell me to stop overthinking things!
