Have been wthout foster piggies for a while as the rspca centre I foster for had rehomed all the previous intake. Then today I get a phone call as five piggies found dumped in a hedge:(:td:. Poor things, with winter approachng somebody has just abandoned them. So on Saturday I will be collecting three females for pregnancy watch and some TLC. No names or pictures yet, so watch this space! Will be just lovely having squeaky wheeky poppets in the house again:love:.

I really don't understand how someone can just dump animals, the older I get the more I dislike some humans. But exciting for you Aunty C., looking forward to hearing more and seeing pictures. You are amazing to take in these animals.

Great that you can foster them - hope they settle well for you!
Must be completely terrifying for the poor pigs to be dumped - the dumpers must be cruel or clueless or both :(

It does make me sad and ashamed to be part of the human race when people do things like that :(

So glad they were found and you can give them a caring and loving foster home meantime :nod:

Thanks all. Seems there were only three piggies abandoned, the message got a bit muddled, so glad there were no more poor things out there. If I was to get hold of the "human" that left them there I would probably end up arrested for GBH! Busy retrieving all my C&C stuff from the attic to get set up and ready.

They are here! I picked them up late this afternoon. Wll post pictures once they have settled in. One dark brown agouti, one ginger and white, one tri-colour brown white and cream. All smooth haired with little crests. Eating well and "chut putting" quietly to themselves. In good condition despite their ordeal.

Photos as promised! Taken this morning, they are still a bit restless being handled so taking things slowly. Monica is the brown agouti, Rachael the tri-colour and Phoebe the ginger and white. Phoebe has a V-shaped regrowth of hair on her back suggesting recent mites:(, otherwise they are in good condition considering their ordeal of being dumped. On preganancy watch with me, and if they come through that without any babies they should, all being well, be available for adoption in the new year!

ok, having a few technical probs uploading the other pics, going to log out and back in again to see if that cures it!

Just given them some watercress, which disappeared in seconds, they have been much more active this afternoon with some popcorning and bolder exploring of the toys and snuggle bed. A bit of squealing going on as they obviously reestablish their pecking order. Not bothered by the tv, which makes me think they were indoor pets before being abandoned.

Looks like they are happily settling in!

How lovely of you to take them in, they're gorgeous. They have landed on their paws with you

Gosh! They are gorgeous, so glad they have ended up with you

Why do people think it is acceptable to dump animals :(

they are boooooootiful.....:luv::wub::love:
did you pick their names or was it coincidence with the friends music lyrics:hmm:

So no one told you life was gonna be this way.....
When it hasn't been your day, your week, your month, or even
your year,.... but
I'll (@AuntyC ) be there for you
When the rain starts to pour
I'll (auntyc) be there for you! :wub:

i would sooooo fail as a fosterer! :inn::whistle:
gorgeous furballs. :drool::luv: xx

Beautiful, and it seems odd to me as it would seem (from what I've read) that they were well cared for, including the mites being treated, so I can only imagine someone genuinely cared for them, and then 'something' happened, but what is anyone's guess. Weird.
But what matters is that they are safe and well, and in a lovely home. I think fostering must be very rewarding :) x

Hi @Critter. I don't really know why either. They are due to be weighed tomorrow morning on their weekly schedule. Phoebe has some change of shape by her flanks which may or may not be a pregnancy:(. I have all three on the best diet and they are certainly eating extremely well. Their C&C s now raised off the floor as the tables from Ikea arrived this morning. We put a large piece of wood under the cage for stability. The piggies were named by the centre staff on arrival.
Picture below, and I will be pulling cage further away from the radiator! There is a tubular greenhouse heater on the floor below for use during colder nights.

Oh, I nearly forgot. On arrival at the centre two had overgrown nails and dirty bums, one had filthy ears and there were "little passengers" on all three. So not the best! But they were not thin or underfed. By the time I picked them up the staff had worked their magic and nails, bums etc. had been sorted and they looked clean and tidy! I just have a horrid feeling that they had been in with a boar. It is a wait and see game now!

Poor little loves, but that's a lovely set-up they're in, and of course their ailments are being treated. I hope the little lady isn't pregnant.... xx

Phoebe has put on a LOT of weight at her weigh-in yesterday; she was also being picked on by the other two a lot yesterday so I am keeping a careful eye on her. All three had knee-time and a gentle brushing after cage cleaning this morning. Got a totally bonkers Golden Retriever staying for two days as a favour for some friends. I have looked after her before and she is a lovely dog but rather hyper-active! We are both upstairs in the spare room at the moment so as not to stress out the piggies down in the lounge. Although I have screened the sides of the cage with teatowels the dog has taken no interest in them whatsoever! Will keep her well away though. Know the piggies have scent of her as their little noses were twitching away like crazy. :tu:
