Increase in food intake now its colder

Has anyone else noticed food bowls being emptied quicker now it is getting colder? I seem to be forever filing thier bowls and adding extra hay these last few weeks. Just wondered if I was alone in this did not notice last winter but ours were growing babies then ;D
 
Mine are indoor, but yes they definately are eating more. I put it down to Harry getting better after cystitis, but they both put on alot of weight last week.
Do they store extra weight for winter like some other animals?
 
I have noticed the boys eating more, Cuzzy ate all his dried mix last night, unlike him. :)
 
It must be a winter thing was chatting with another friend and she said hers are eating more too. They must need the extra to keep warm :)
 
Mine are eating more too but I put in down to the fact that they"re not going outside on the grass very often,so need to fill up with other food.....saying that they"ve been in their runs this afternoon as it was so lovely here and they"ve still eaten lots of tea.
 
Usually mine would still have dry food in there bowl by morning now it's all gone, not a bit let to eat little pigs ;D
 
Mine are the same. They are definately eating more Hay and dried food.
The Girls bowls were empty this morning and they had all eaten their hay and dried grass. :)
 
I have also noticed the water bottles are being used more than in hotter weather.
 
Yep they are eating more. I'm constantly checking the bowls because of the rate they are all eating. :police:

My two put on 50g last week the little fatties :smitten:
 
Honkey does not finish the bowl of dried food pellets but he is eating loads of veg but has cut back on eating hay. He has a hay ball feeder hung by a chain and he does not seem to want to eat hay now. (I took the manger out/off because of him getting in it and when it was on the outside of the cage, he ignored it)
 
Do you know what? YES! My two are eating for Britain!

I thought i was just being paranoid, but they are eating so much veg and hay its crazy! (well not really cos i love to see my piggies chomping away!)

Suppose it makes sense really....i tend to eat more when its cold! A comfort thing for me...dunno if its the same for piggies! Building up reserves as they can feel winter is coming?
 
Exactly the same thing here. They are even eating veggies they would usually ignore, like peppers (naughty!). Can't weight them coz they are snoozing and I don't want to disturb them.
 
I have to say, although mine are only babies still (3 months :smitten:) but I am forever filling up their bowl, hayrack and boredom breaker...I was worried that I was giving them too much...they are even eating their Excel! ? :o :o

And i just thought mine were greedy pigs ! No wonder I'm going through bags of food so quickly
 
Yep all mine are the same. Pumpkin flash and Blaze have a bedroom filled with hay and a room filled with it and its all gone by the next day :o :o
 
yep my boy is stuffing his face, it feels like I'm not feeding him at all :D
 
I am filling the dried food dishes morning ,afternoon and night and they are going through hay like there is no tomorrow :o
I think the piggies are actually going through more hay in a week than the Goats do :-\
 
not noticed the dry food going but the hay is going like crazy normally replenish hay every other day having to do it every day and they seem to start to smell earlier cleaning hutch out one a week normally every 5 days is that about right?

Ahh they still love there food then ;D I was forever filling the bowl for those greedy piggies bet they are huge now :smitten:
