Hi all, looking at an indoor enclosure for 2 bonded sows. We will be adopting once we have our enclosure sorted. I'm looking at this 180cm length guinea enclosure from hamster homes as it looks sturdy and could work well in our dining room. Its 60cm wide and would have 2 houses (with 2 doors on each) and at least a third of the enclosure as hay. A c&c enclosure is 10cm wider so I'm in a quandary as while the wood will work better for mess containment, aesthetics and sturdiness i dont want to deny the guineas an essential extra 10cm width? The wooden enclosure will have clear run from one end to the other but is 60cm really ok for width? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum

A cage of this size is absolutely perfect.

60cm width is the standard width (and recommendation) for commercial cages and hutches - the recommended enclosure size for two sows being 150x60cm.

It’s just that c&c cages happen to be wider but it doesn’t make the standard 60cm in any way a problem.

The fact you are getting a 180 means you are providing them with more than recommended which is great
