The weather has been OK here for a few days so have been putting them outside for a bit. But they don't seem to like it. They just hide in their homes and box and come out for maybe 10 minutes.

It's all concrete at the moment and need them to run around to get their sharp claws down (off to the vets tomorrow to get them clipped) and there isn't much grass or leaves growing through. So I'm growing some grass in two seed trays so they can both have one each and just sit and eat it. But when they are indoors there is no grass, just everything we put outside for them including a big lump of hay in the middle, but they're just not interested.

I had them out for around 3 hours the other day and they were out for 10 minutes. Thought they weren't interested so brought them inside and they were out for hours chasing each other. Do some guineas just not like being outside?

maybe they are just timid and scared of being outdoors. they 're not sure what to expect. that;s my guess anyhow.

That's what I'm thinking, maybe they had never been outisde before. But I've taken them out a good few times for at least an hour. Sometimes they come out for a quarter of the time eating whatever is about, others not interested. I'll just keep trying.

I would just keep at it, hopefully they will grow more confident . just be careful of predators that may harm them.

I keep an eye on them. It's a back "garden" that has no access to it other than from the house. They have places to hide and there are no, or not many cats around. I've only ever seen one since moving here. The only things that ever seem to scare them is the gulls. They usually run into the homes and that tends to be when they don't come back out. Unless Harry runs into the same place Dude has gone and it's arguement time then!

I don;t take my piggies outdoors but that is just me. I don;t really have a penned in outdoor area for them to play in, otherwise they will just run loose. I am wanting to get a playpen for them so they can get more exercise.

Your piggies sound like mine when they run into the same house/pigloo. The pigloo turns around and they squeak and squeal, the house turns over or sometimes does a full circle with them both in it! very funny to watch.

My two have been outside the past couple of days and really loved it. We've got a 1m square collapsible run with a lid so they go in that on the grass. We piled up loads of grass clippings in one corner and attached their hay rack and water bottle to the side. They had a great time chomping on the fresh grass and running through the clippings.

We put a bit of sun cream on Big Red's ears as they're hairless and white in patches (which he HATED!) so were more than happy to have them out with us for a few hours while we sorted the garden.

My boys get to go outside to play during the day, and they love it! They have an outdoor run, half of which is covered and it like a big house for them to hide in.

At first it took them days (day of being out for hours!) before they would properly venture out to play, but now as soon as they're popped outside, those little bums are out and their heads are down and just munching away!

I would definatly keep trying with them, they just need to get brave. Outside there's all sorts of new smells and sounds!

I think the quicker I can grow this grass and have that for them the better. I tink iit might be there isn't anything out there for them to go out.
