It is my ambition to get my piggies living inside. OH is down right refusing saying the house is too small.

And today he said there is no way 5 guinea pigs can live inside as the smell would be over powering as well as the mess.

I countered back: there are people on the Forum who have more then us and they have them quite happily living inside!

Yet he doesn't believe it's even possible to house a large amount inside!

I live in a tiny studio and have my five indoors. I poop pick three times a day and change the vetbed and towels every three days. There is no smell at all. I got rid of my TV to give them a nice cage and it is 8 by 3. It can be done!

The only time my boys end up smelling is when its the summer and I haven't cleaned them out for over a week as I was away or ill, otherwise they rarely tend to smell.

I think with fleece it'd smell even less because you poop pick whereas in my bedding I can't.

I have four guinea pigs.

Mine are indoor piggles. I have only 2 now and they're in my alcove in my front room. Their pellets, hay, readigrass and bedding are all under the table with the hamster cage. I used to have more pigs and I would have a larger square cage sticking out there if it weren't for the cat and dog so I have to use commercial cages. The pigs do have a smell IMHO but if their cages are cleaned out regularly its inoffensive and I have only open out the bags of hay inside the cage so there is no less other than on clean out day :)

The photo was taken from my sofa where i am sat now :)

I have 7 in my lounge - they were all on fleece for a year but I ended up doing sooo much washing that now all are on newspaper and hay & I can clean all 3 sections in under half an hour - I just roll up the newspaper and bin it daily - no smell - friends houses smell of dog or cats wee - mine smells like a summer meadow (o.k. that last bit was a lie - but your o.h. doesn't need to know that )

I said to him that you have 23 and they're inside a guinea pig room!
He said: It must be an extension or out house!
Me: No! In a room!

I have them in two rooms :)) That will put fear in him maybe not mention that bit ;)

I now have 5! They are in different rooms as 3 are boys and two are girls. I am paranoid about it smelling so I clean out cages every day at least. But my husband says that my riding boots and the dog smell a lot worse than the guinea pigs.....

You got rid of your tv?! :yikes:  Now that shows just how much you obviously must love your piggies! :) What do you do with yourself without a tv...? :))

My 2 are in the hutch in the lounge. I wash the pee n poo areas with white vinegar in water every 3 days when I change the bedding and there is no smell!

Surely, you have a say in the wellbeing of your piggies?
If you want your piggies in the house, then you should just put them in the house regardless of anyone else!
They do not smell, and they won't start picking up or wrecking any phones, or playing loud music at night! <--well, I say they won't make loud music at night, but they kind of do!

I couldnt get rid of my baby (tv) I have my 46 inch tv and piggies both in viewable distance from my sofa best of both words :D
That's good then!
But piggies don't usually like loud noises (TV), or music! But I'm sure you have some little pop star pigs so they don't mind!

I have TV, ipod dock and piggies all in the same room. The piggies tell me when the volume is too high by hiding in the bedroom - I always take the hint!

My hubby said I could have one when I was given a cage but got two from the pet shop that they were rehoming for someone for less than it would have cost me for one and everyone knows they need company .Dogs wouldn't leave cage alone so they went in the spare room where they moved in to 100 cage them daughter got two for birthday and another cage.Thought they would be better as a four so c&c cage went in (5x3).Fell in love with couple on preloved so they moved in .Didn't get on with my quartet so 3x3 c&c cage covered rest of the floor.Waiting for wardrobe to be taken upstairs so can extend 3x3 and take on two more babies from rescue. Hubby has gave up

Same here, listen to mainly heavy metal as well and does not bother them one bit. They come out, eating and popcorning around. Unconcerned :))

My four boys have taken over the spare bedroom. Which I know I am lucky to be able to use for them. I would be mortified if anyone said they smelt. I do clean them every 3 days. They love it as it is more time with their human. I have 2 separate C and C set ups for the two male pairs. I have vet bed or a waterproof lap pad under their hidies where they spend most of their time. I wash these every 2 days. They dry really quickly.

I have my 2 boys in my bedroom, where i spend most of my time, we used to have 3, I think piggies have a smell but not a bad one, and it’s one of those smells that once you get used to it you don’t notice it and it just becomes normal the same way those air freshener plug in thingys do. I used to have one piggy in my front room when i lived with my mum, just for him to get extra company and if anything everyone who visited loved seeing him and giving him a fuss, he loved it too, and as long as i remember to clean him on time, there was never a smell. Having piggies inside is the best!

As long as you keep their home clean there will be no nasty smell. My piggy setup just smells of hay. Up until the last pair we had, mine always used to live outside but when the previous pair got old I suggested moving them inside (it was really cold out at the time) and OH was OK about it. They lived inside until they died; I got some more pigs eventually, and he was most insistent that they lived inside like the others. Then he kept on at me to make their house bigger ('they haven't got enough room', he said) so now they have a whole corner to play in (and there is no room for my Christmas tree but I don't mind that).
I'm relieved he is so keen on them, it is awkward when a couple disagrees on something like this. Does he like the pigs? You might find that after they've moved in (I'm assuming you will win this one :) ) he gets more fond of them.
