Hi, after some previous advice (thanks) I have decided to buy an indoor run for our new guinea pigs (still not got them yet though). I've looked on almost every website I can think of and have spotted a run which is very reasonably priced. However, it is only 25cm high. Is this too low for guinea pigs or will this keep them "contained". Probably sounds stupid to experienced piggy owners but I don't want to get up in the morning to find them under my TV unit. Thanks, Gillarms.

Moved to correct section and approved. ;)

Is this one of those fold-away metal runs? 25cm is on the low side especially if there's anything close to the perimeter that they could use as a stepping stone.

i would go higher just to be safe Do you not fancy a c&c cage. There is a section here with pictures of what you can do. They can be made any shape you want and any size and can work out pretty cheap for what you get. If they have tunnels and things it is possible for them to move them then jump on top and out.If you cant get correx (or coroplast) you could put lino or a groundsheet under it to protect your floor. What are you putting them on - fleece or other.

Hi, thanks all. The cage is already bought (my son's father has bought it for his birthday) or else I might have thought about the c & c cages. We are thinking about using fleece on the floor but still not definitely decided yet. I've seen a bigger run now (50cm high) so hopefully will just get this and attach to cage and then put a bridge/ramp type thing at cage door so piggies can go in and out of cage as they please.

meant using c&c grids to make a run if it is just for indoors. Might work out cheaper than a metal run and your cage can still be attached or put inside it but it depends if you want a run you can use outside in good weather.Under run you could use a shower curtain and fleece or a ground sheet and fleece to protect your floor. I use a large fiddlesticks for my 2 girls to get in and out of their litter tray although they can jump in and out of it but it is somewhere else for them to hide
