Indoors or outdoors?

Hi All,

I have 2 Bores that are currently in a hutch outside, it has a thermal cover on and they have blankets etc. now temperatures have dropped below 0c should I bring them inside? they won't have as much space inside, but they will be warmer.
 
Ok, could they stay outdoors if bringing them in is a problem? we have a 6 month old kitten that might be interested in them. what is worse? I suppose...

if you can’t keep them warm enough outside, then do bring them in.
I see you have thermal covers but do you have snugglesafe heat pads in their hutch? They are so important for outdoor piggies.

How much space will they have inside? Lack of space between boars can cause problems between them so you do need to give them as much space as you possibly can. Two boars need a minimum of 150cm x 60cm but 180cm x 60cm is recommended for two boars.
 
I agree. It is safer indoor because you can control and monitor temperature and you don’t have to worry about predators. If you are worried about enrichment then you can get them lots for toys (hay toys are usually a favorite). You can also give them supervised playtime outside if you still want them to enjoy the fresh air.

This is not the case. Once piggies have been moved indoors, they cannot be taken back out until it is warm enough in spring time. Continually moving piggies from indoors to outdoors is too much of a temperature fluctuation and is what can cause health problems and weaken immune systems
 
I have a cat as well. All you have to do is cat proof their cage and make sure they are as out of reach as possible. I cat proofed my cage by putting two wire shelves over the top and zip tying them (my cage is a c and c cage). I keep my room door closed and my cat had never bothered them, and even if he did they have sturdy hits and he can’t get into the cage.
