As it's been nice weather here recently I decided that I'd take the guineas outside for a little run around and for their first taste of grass/dandelions. I put them into a box with some hay and took them outside. I let them just sit in the box for a bit when we got outside just so they could get used to the smells and sounds.
I took Indy out first as he's the most confident of the 2. He was happily bimbling around on the grass and munching away when he decided that he wanted to run over to the part of the garden that is filled with bricks and pipes etc (we have a shared garden and one of our neighbours is doing an extension.) Anyway, that bit of the garden has no grass and has lots of nettles and brambles so I decided that he wasn't going to stay in there. Would he come out? No. He kept running around a little thorn bush and every time i went to grab him, he ran in the other direction and so on. I was a bit worried that he would get stung so I eventually had to just stick my hand into the bush and grab him. I got him out but I got stung and scratched all over my arm
After all the drama I decided that it would be best to invest in a run for them. I checked Indy over to see if he had gotten scratched or stung, luckily he was fine, I took the brunt of it. He was purring away in my ear so at least he was happy. He spent the rest of the time outside sitting up on my shoulder like a little parrot. Stitch sat up there too when he came out.
So the first trip outside was interesting and I have learned that guineas can move fast when they want to.
