My guinea pig had a spay on monday. Her wound seemed fine yesterday, but just checked on it and its opened abit and has swollen and is hard. I'll take her to the vets first thing, but my question is - is that ok or should i take her to emergency vets now? Many thanks, very worried.

Is she on any antibiotics? If it is opening, red and swollen then definitely the vets.

Did they give her painkillers for after the operation to give at home? How is she in herself?

She had been fine yesterday eating, drinking and out and about but today she did seem abit quiet tho she did come out for her veg earlier but then has been mostly sleeping. The vet only gave me some metacam, which i had stopped but just gave her some before when i noticed how bad it was.

She does need to see the vet asap. It sounds like there may be some infection and antibiotics will be necessary. Let us know how it goes.

shes just seen the vet and she took the stitches out and cleaned it up and has put her on some antibotics. manys thanks

aww your poor girl. Hope the infection clears up quickly
