As you know Rocky has been very poorly for a long time. A few weeks ago, as the abscess was starting to shrink, I noticed Rocky had a hugely inflamed right little finger. Emmie, the vet, said some tendon was actually sticking out and she removed it. The hand calmed down.

A few days ago I stopped Rocky's metacam. Within 24 hours the finger had become very inflamed again, although doesn't seem to bother Rocky. I started metacam again but that was three days ago and there has been no change. Do you think this is something that could/ should be managed at home with metacam, or do we need to go back to the vet?

Oh I'd never thought of them as 'fingers' before! :)) I'm not sure why some of the tendon would be sticking out like that.. but it sounds like it might need looking at, to get to the root of the problem rather than just managing with pain relief. 3 days is probably long enough to see some relief... I think it might be worth getting it looked at again. Poor Rocky!

Yes, I thought it would help too. The problem only came back the day after I withdrew the metacam, which is why I wondered if that was what had caused it. I wondered whether Rocky would need anti-inflammatories long-term. I am not sure if it is rheumatic or not.
