After much consideration (and many many long chats) we rehomed Leela with her sister who was needing a cage mate. We now have 3 lovely rex sows. Well they ALL looked like females and were originally sexed as females. I check this before i left with them today. However, when i got them home i had another quick look at well 2 look like boys. I have tried to "push" to see if anything pops out but it doesn't. It just doesnt look like girl bits. Ohhh i just dont know, any advice?

Sounds like what you've done to try and find out is the right thing. How old are they? If they're very young it might be too hard to tell. If you're worried and they old enough, I would separate them until you're sure. This link http://www.cavyspirit.com/sexing.htm has plenty of info and pictures so you can compare. Hope that helps :)

Well, if your not 100% sure then id go to the vets as long as they know about piggies that is cause even they can make mistakes like my vets did ::)

Its sooo easy to sex them ~ Personally all i do to sex when they are first born is look at them and if I'm not certain by that cause most look like sows i just gently feel for a ridge (penis) just above the opening O0 That way you can tell its a male without making the penis pop out cause itll be painful for a newborn so thats why i dont pop it out to sex them ;D

Good Luck ~ If your still struggling then people on this forum may help you if you provide piccies but i know that can be difficult with babies ;)

they are 5 weeks now and i cant feel anything and nothing pops out but they do look a bit like males. Ohh i'll have a look at the pics and see what i can work out.

What about checking for testicals then? When I took Tucker to the RSPCA for them to check his sex the lady on reception said well can't you see his bollox there massive, I was dead embarrased :embarassed: ;D ;D

haha. Well just had another look and a quick look at pics. There is nothing popping out so am sure they are all female. I have two males and they look slightly a like when first looking but nothing more than that. Thanks for the advice. xx

Hope they are all sows :-\ Its abit late now to sex them anyway, you should of really sexed them at 3 weeks but as long as they are sows O0

they are all sows, just had a slight doubt about one but its a girl.

Can you get someone to hold the piggy to the camera and take a picture and then we call all give our opinion on the sex.
Ive sexed newborn piggies before and Ive always sexed them correctly, and I'm sure others here are experienced sexers, so post some pics of their 'delicate' area.
xx Steph xx

they are 5wks old and one is 6wks old. the one in question am 100% sure was a girl. Just looked a bit funny last night, must have been the angle i was looking at. x
