Ordered a large bag of Ings which arrived yesterday and the girls won't touch it...I've resorted back to pets at home hay so that they would eat something! I think the Ings is just too stalky for them :td:
What a waste :(

Does anyone have any idea if the meadow hay is softer from hay-and-straw?

Thanks X

On the back of Oxbow Timothy hay, it tells you about what the hays are like... Hang on a tic.

Western Timothy hay- Flavourful/Firm
Organic Meadow hay- Flavourful/Softer
Botanical hay- Sweeter/Firm
Orchard grass- Sweeter/Softer
Oat hay- Heartier/Crunchiest

Can you try just putting in a handful at a time mixed with the cheaper hay or putting it in their food bowl to encourage them to eat it? Piggies can be tricky about sudden changes. Perhaps a more piecemeal introduction may encourage them?

How strange ! I must admit - the INGs is very stalky at the moment - but my Guinea Pigs love it !

I have just ordered some meadow - so, will let you know how soft it is when it arrives .

Thanks all...Ings has been in for 24 hours and I haven't seen them go near it at all!

I've just spoken to the lovely Ann at hay for pets and she is sending me s bag of specially soft meadow hay today. Absolutely wonderful customer service...fingers crossed my fussy girls like that better!

Last bag of ings on the left and the new bag that game yesterday on the right.. I'm Not impressed!

.... I agree it''s worth letting them know . I've had a replacement from hay 4 pets when I've told them .

Have you tried the Alfalfa King Timothy Hay from p@h? It's £9 for 1.8kg but my boys love it and its good quality.

Thanks all!
We do use the Alfa king Timothy hay too :)

Piggyowner that looks lovely...fingers crossed my girls like it too!

I dropped the Ings off at a local rescue today...hope they enjoy it!

For mine I use Pettex Meadow Hay in all their bedding areas and Burgess feeding hay in their dining areas. None of my 4 seem fussy, they eat it all up as if they were horses! I may need to rebuild their staircase if they continue like this...

If you have a range near you their meadow hay is great! Lasts ages and my girls love it. I took them to the vets and the vet actually commented and said the hay was really good quality. Not bad for £3.50 either and it lasts a long time too. I think it's called pure pastures.

My herd love the B&M hay for £1.99 and they dive in/hide/eat/poo/wee in it. Won't touch anything else

I like Deans Timothy from the Hay Experts. I did have Ings for a bit but the quality was so differing with each lot I stopped buying it. Also I had to rebag it into breathable bags from what it came in and even doing it outside made my breathing terrible for hours so I'd rather buy the stuff that I can tip straight into the breathable bags.
