My Guinea pig hasn't been eating or drinking today so I took him to the vet, he says everything was good and seemed normal, also he has watery eyes so we mentioned that too, he said either an X-ray or two injections, stupidly I didn't ask about the injections which I wish I had, but he injected my baby with a Baytril Injection 2.5% and a 10ml Vomend Injection. He's only having it once, not on a course, I take him back tomorrow to see everything is going okay. Was this the right move? Should I be concerned? I'm getting myself even more worried than I was before. I appreciate any help

Please start syringe feeding and watering asap to keep the guts going. No medication will do that for you. here is our illustrated step-by-step guide on how to. it also contains tips on what you can do in an emergency with what you have got at home. Switch from weighing weekly to weighing daily at the same time. You need to feed the more often the less you can get into your piggy in one go, if necessary throughout the night. You will find more detailed information on the amounts needed to keep your piggy alive in the guide.
Complete Syringe Feeding Guide

Baytril is an antibiotic that can be quite an appetite dampener; that is why it is important you don;t wait for your piggy to start eating again on its own. Vomend is targeted at digestive problems.

Thank you so much for replying so quickly, I'll have to start syringe feeding tomorrow, I was just discussing it with my mum, I'll get a syringe tomorrow as I can't now, I'll read the guide and make sure to do as it says, thank you. Do you think he was give the right injections?

Please start tonight and use a spoon to see whether he will take food from a spoon or get a 1 ml syringe from a local pharmacy. If a guinea pig has not eaten and drunk for 24 hours, its guts are starting to slowly close down. Saving its life is going to be a much more difficult battle if that is happening. It is really that important!

It is very difficult to get food and water into a guinea pig that has lost its appetite.

We generally recommend to have a syringe at home just for this case.

We've managed to feed him pellets soaked in warm water, i think he's had a decent amount, we weren't able to get him to have any water though, so fingers crossed he starts to drink, definitely going to get together first aid supplies for emergencies!
