Hi,
Buttons has somehow injured his eye again! Most likely on hay as he loves to dig himself into it. It's quite red, and has gone white . It's not bulging and he squints it now and again but not all the time. I won't be able to take him to the vets until tomorrow evening when I'm back from work. I do have some eye drops that were from when he did it before and they have been stores in the fridge. Would it be safe to give him a drop of this now? I can't see anything in his eye but I couldn't 100% guarantee of cause. He's happy in himself popping about , eating, cleaning himself etc. Is there anything I can do now?

I wouldn’t give any treatment at all unless the vet has prescribed it after examination. Eye drops in any event go out of date very quickly after opening and should really be discarded. Please get him seen by the vet tomorrow as you plan. In the meantime if you want to treat him them some cooled homemade saline would do no harm.

I agree with Vicki, I think when I last had eyedrops for a hay poke injury they ran out something like 3 weeks after opening
