about an hour ago Darcy got into a fight with our other guinea pig Daisy which resulted in her getting a bite to the lip. It isn't bleeding but it is painful and swollen. I was wondering what to do to keep it from becoming infected and will it heal on its own? Also how often should I clean it if needed?

If the bite has broken the skin then its unlikely there will be any infection. It will likely heal itself.
Just keep a close eye omg your piggy to make sure they don't withdraw and stop eating, might be worth ensuring the veggies are cut quite small to help with eating.

Thankyou, she's eating fine but I can tell it's hurting her a bit so I have cut her vegetables into small pieces and broken her pellets up to smaller pieces. Do you know if there is anything I can do to reduce the swelling?

Hi ther If she were in pain she may hunch herself up and her fur would look fluffed and she might look very sad and quite,

If you have any metacam or loxicom left from another vet visit (it has a 6 month shelf life ). It may be worth using some over the first day or two as its an anti inflammatory and will help with any pain and swelling. If the swelling doesn't subside quickly or looks to get worse then a vets visit would identify whether any treatment is needed.

I had this with one of my previous piggies and within 24 hours she was pretty much back to normal albeit a little quiet

thankyou, I'm going to keep an eye on it but if it looks any worse in the morning I will take her to the vets for treatment.
