Hi all. Last night we discovered Daniel pig with blood around his sack area. We took him to the night vet and he's damaged his penis. The vet reconned it had been bitten, but i don't think that's likely as they get on so well and it's always Lionel's who humps Daniel, not the other way around. Anyway he's got like a gash in it and all round is bruised and a bit swollen. Has anyone seen anything like this before? He is weeing at the moment and its clear without any blood in it, which is good. He had a baytril injection and one of metacam last night and he's got another appointment this afternoon to make sure he's still weeing ok and to have another check up. I was thinking it would be good to rinse it with warm salt water to help keep the swelling down and keep it clean - what do people think of that plan?

Thank you :-)

How is he now? I'm still hoping someone with experience in this will be along to offer advice xx

I'm not sure about salt water - I personally would just use warm boiled water and keep it clean...

Deary me! Boys & their willies!

Ooo please don't use salt water, that will sting :x My boy had a penis injury (from a botched op) and our vet told us to bathe him in just warm water and pat dry gently. He was also on baytril and having appointments to make sure he was weeing. And all is well now. Have you asked about pain relief? Spike was given loxicom to make him comfy, ask your vet. Poor baby, sending well wishes and healing vibes xx>>>

Hi everyone, thank you. The metacam injection that he had is for pain relief, and when we went back we got oral metacam and septrin (septrin is an ab). He is on those for 10 days. The injury is looking much better and the selling is down. He is also weeing fine which we were very happy to see. He was alone in the little cage on a towel for a day and then we put Lionel in with him the next day and he's back in the full area now.

Thanks :-)
