The boys will be coming inside again in a few weeks, and I'm toying with the idea of getting a new cage.

At present, they have a 4x2 inside cage, but obviously it isn't as spacious as the two storey hutch they have outside.

The cage sits on a worksurface in the utility room, so I don't really want a C&C cage as I'd have to stand on a chair to lean over and clean it out. Ideally, I need something that opens at the front (like a hutch) so I can get to it easily. But maybe with an extra floor or half floor, to give a bit of extra space.

Any suggestions?

If your indoor cage has the height, could you add a second level? I havent done it but I think some on here may have! Some of the rabbit cages are quite high as obviously buns are taller than pigs!

With a C&C you can still create doors that open at the front so you don't have to lean over it to clean it. I have my 2 store c&c on a table and I have 'made' doors on both levers so that it is easy to clean.
Unfortunately there are no shop bought cages bigger than 2x4 at least there wasn't when I looked!

I have a rabit deluxe 120, a Nero 4 and a Nero 3 and they all open at the front with large doors.

To clean out I open put piggies in the indoor run and clear out the stuff in the bottom then use a hose pipe in the garden for the main wash, works well for me.

The other option (depending on budget) is a outside shed to house the hutch in the winter, I do this for my rabbit.

I'm having a dog crate, the extra height it has lets me put in another level... and they usually have two front openings ;)
