Insurance

I have just bought 2 guinea pigs and was wondering whether anyone knew of anywhere that does insurance for them? So far all I've come across is insurance for dogs, cats and rabbits.

I have a dog which is still at my parents house and know how expensive it is for visits to vets so should anything ever happen that I would need to take them to a vet I would like to have insurance in place to cover the costs.

To my knowledge they don't do insurance for guineas. What I do and I think quite a few people do is put a little bit of money by each week, so that if our guineas need veterinary treatment we use these savings. It would be a good idea to join th the CCT (Cambridge Cavy Trust) if you live close by.

Unfortunately I live in Chester le Street in the north east of england so its a bit far! It sounds like a great idea though, I'll have to look and see if theres anything in my area like that.

Yeah thats probably the best bet, I dont understand why you can't get other pets insured though?!

I suppose for whatever reason the companies don't think it is worth insuring these small animals, more then likely they don't make a profit. I can understand not having insurance for hamsters and little creatures like that. The reason dogs, cats and rabbits have insurance is because they are the three most kept pets in England.
