Junior Guinea Pig
Hello all,
I seem to be on here a lot as of late, but this time for a different pig.
Juniper, my year old Sow, has had intermittent crackling/croaky breathing over the past 3 weeks.
First vet trip, anti-biotics and metacam, and it hasn't changed. Not worse, but not better.
Second vet trip with a different vet who specialises in exotics, found a sloght crackle in the left lung, and possible soreness in the abdomen (she has never liked her belly being touched).
She is being nebulised with Ventolin and F10, and I am getting stressed because some days she is completely silent, and then other days she sounds really congested.
She has no discharge around her eyes or nose, shes happy, energetic and eating lots. Weight is stable as well.
I am going to contact the vets tomorrow to try and different antibiotic treatment.
Do you think I need to be concerned? I am currently dealing with a second ovarian cyst with my other pig Honey which is a nightmare, and now having to deal with Junipers respiratory issues is beginning to stress me out. I'm telling myself that because the vet didnt send me home with more serious medication, that its not super serious, but the not knowing its stressful.
Its so inconsistent, so I tell myself shes fine, we have dusty hay atm so wondering if thats making it worse. Then shes silent for a day, no sounds at all, wake up the next day and she sounds croaky again.
If anyone has experienced a similar thing, I would appreciate some advice or calming words because these pigs are going to be the death of me
Thanks again, attached a photo of Juniper in her nebuliser box
