I have been finidng myself becoming increasingly annoyed at how much these internet pet webistes charge for delivery!

One site I use charges £5.00 for uk mainland delivery, and even more if your in your in scotland/off mainland, personally I find it a total rip off, although i still continue to use these sites as my guinea's wouldnt get any of the fancy treats or toys, just the basic ones they sell in the shops.

How does eveyone feel on this matter? Whats the most you have ever paid for delivery?

Does anyone know a good site, that charges a fair amount for delivery, yet still provides the same quality goods as eveywhere else?

:) I try to keep my postage at cost (including packing) and at the moment the cost of postage is included with the item. :) So no extras when you check out. This way is probably best if youonly want one or two things. If you want hay in bulk/large amounts contact me for a flat rate but this doesn't apply to seeds.

i had a look at your site for seeds a few weeks ago, and i was happy to pay what you charge..i just think some sites cash in on the extra over priced postage.

I think a lot depends on the weight/size of the item being posted out.

We do a lot of mail order and it is shocking the cost of some items to send especially once you get over the 2kilo weight mark.

Carriers are expensive too, we use two companies TNT, and their cheapest rate is approx £11.49 + vat. And a small more home buisness type carrier and they charge £6 + vat (again depending on weight of item) and how many parcels we sent out yearly.

We subsidise a lot of the time and swallow some of the carriage charges. Everytime the fuel goes up so does the 'supplement' charged on the delivery rates !

I know what you mean about some companies seemingly charging too much, but its not always the case. :)

Try zooplus , they do free delivery on orders over £30, and you get a £3 discount if you're new. :smitten: I'm going to order today.

Yeah I ordered from zooplus yesterday and got the £3 discount. Ordered ceramic bowl, small hay rack, and some woody sticks all for when they go into their hutch in the garden in the summer.. cost me £5 approx inc delivery. doubt i'll use then again though. I have my eye on http://www.pamperedpiggies.co.uk/ some really gorgeous things on their that I want to try plus they sell GG shampoo so if they stock what I need i'll be saving on extra P&P.. in theory.
