Hi everyone , my girl was just diagnosed with
[HEADING=2]Interstitial Cystitis , I just wanted to kinda share what I have learned so far and get some advice on what I could do differently. My co worker actually helped me too she said I should go off of what could trigger it in humans too because bladder health is bladder health human or animals. I have found out cranberry and dandelion can make it worse. Because of the acid in the cranberry and the dandelion because it does make them go to the bathroom moore . Grapes and apples can irritate it more too. From what I have read on it in humans vigorous exercise can also be a trigger. Right now my girl gets cucumber and bell pepper moloxacam as well as CBD on her ears to help with stress. She's pellet free and gets orchid grass hay. [/HEADING]

Welcome to the forum

Sorry to hear your piggy has IC.
It is very much along the lines of sterile cystitis in cats and the treatment is the same as with cats.

It is known that cranberry juice does not have an effect on guinea pigs with urinary issues and also that the sugars etc can make matters worse.
Fruit doesn’t need to be in their diet in any event - it’s not something they ever need to be given.
It is the case that changes to the diet can cause IC flares.

A Glucosamine supplement is needed for a piggy with IC. The glucosamine layer in the bladder is affected in a piggy wirh IC so replacing it with a supplement daily is very important. It takes several weeks for glucosamine to build up in the body before it starts to help

I have added our guide below which details how to deal with IC
