Hi All,

We've had our two sows for just over 3 years now - over this time we have unfortunately seen three of our old boars pass and are feeling our piggie nest is a bit empty. We are looking at getting a pair of baby sows with the aim that gradually we could introduce these to our existing sows (both of which seem fairly laid back and have had no issues with each other over the years).

Do people have any experience or advise for this process?

We will obviously have to look to upgrade our current set up and were looking at a 6x2 C&C cage - would this be enough space for all four piggies?

Thanks In Advance,

Sonia

6x2 would be good. Introduce them on neutral grounds with a dark coloured towel on hand to break them up. Supply plenty of hideys and tunnels. Teeth chattering, rumblestrutting will be normal. If they begin to fight put the blanket on top to confuse them and break up the fighting. Aim to keep them together for as long as possible but closely monitor them. Hope this helps xx

I introduced two babies to two seven month olds, all went well and I put it down to neutral territory and plenty and plenty of space.Good luck.
Of course when the babies become adults they could challenge hierarchy but I’m hoping the space will help.
