Hi everyone, well we have two girls already and decided to add a new baby with them. Built a bigger C&C and quarantined her for just over a fortnight. Well tonight I thought we would have a go at introducing them so we put towels on the couch and me and my daughter sat at each end. Only got clover out first with the baby, clover is the less dominant one and within 5 minutes she was hissing at the baby, is this normal , sorry to say i chickened out and got poppy out (the dominant pig). She head butted her and lay down making really stressed out low wheeks. I admit i did panic and now wondering what next, if anyone can give me any guidelines i would be really grateful and is the hissing normal?. Thanks everyone.

all behaviour is absolutely normal. I know it can be very worrying because the babies make terrified 'wheeking' noises and you feel worried etc. Your older girls will rumble, chatter, try little nips and possibly try to mount the baby, all to show they are dominant.
Your best bet would be to put them on the floor where none of them have been before and see how they get on. I usually put something tasty out to eat as well, this can help distract!
The only time to seperate them is when blood is drawn.
the good thing with c&c cages is you can add a divider down the centre, so the pigs can see/smell each other. This allows them to get used to each other in their own time. I've done this before and it works pretty well. Remember, if you're going to add the baby into the guineas cage, clean it thourghly first so no smell is dominant

I was thinking of putting a divider down the cage tomorrow, just a bit worried about the hissing noise if you have seen this before as it seems a bit extreme, they did not even seem interested in sniffing her just lay down staring at her. A little consolation is that my lab seems to like the baby, pity i can't fit him in the cage with her! ;D.

Bless them. I would just leave them to it. Maybe do the divider and see how they go, try and be brave I know its not easy and you think they are going to be really nasty. I had this when I introduced Eccles to Pudsey. Eccles was tiny and Pudsey was huge I was at my wits end with worry but I just left them and they are ok now.

Keep us posted. :)

thanks, will let you know of tomorrows fun and games because no doubt i will be back fretting needing more advice, it's a big help knowing there is always someone here when you need them :smitten:. Would'nt mind they started out as my daughter's, she does help with them but they are MY babies! O0.

Hi everyone,Partitioned the cage yesterday and they seemed to accept she was there.Just had all three on a towel and was suprised on the diffrence in clover O0, no hissing today just a lot of bum nipping, Poppy seemed fine straight away saying she is the dominant one. How long would you say to keep doing the towel thing for as i don't want to rush putting them together just yet?
Thanks to all :smitten:
