Hi I have a sow who is 4 years and 9 months old who recently lost her mother only 3 week ago so we decided to get her a new friend after just 2 days, The new Sow was only 6 weeks old when we got her and they have bonded already after less than 3 weeks they really seem to love each already, Before I got the new sow who is called poppy I had reserved a baby sow from a breeder I know well but she was not old enough to be re-homed until the 19 of may which was far to long for Bambi to be alone for so I got poppy for her, The Question I am now asking is would it be ok to add a third sow after such a short time Bambi and Poppy are now bonded and I don't want to upset that by introducing a third Sow too soon any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think it would. Though you have to be careful about there being a divide - 2 piggies against one (odd one out).

Someone with more experience will be along in good time to answer your question.

If you decide to go ahead it would be a good idea to quarantine the little piggy. I THINK (don’t quote me) you could have her cage next to the two girls so she has company.

Hi there, Thank you for your reply.

It may well be fine but it will ultimately depend on the character of the guinea pigs involved.

They need to be kept separate for the first couple of weeks but can then be moved next to each other prior to being bonded on neutral territory.

Best of luck. Do you have a plan b in case things dont work out?
