Finally I can show some pics and videos of my 6week old baby boys, I'd like to introduce Kahlua and Widget :)
Kahlua is the fully brown one and Widget is the brown and white one :)

Also took a little video which i hope is them popcorning?

Sorry for turning the phone halfway in, i'm still a novice at taking piggy photos and videos
I'll be flooding the forum with more pics and videos once i get their new cage built, at the moment i'm shy of the old cage they're in but it's a loaner so i can't complain :)

Aww what cuties! They are indeed popcorning!
The more pigtures the better! :luv:

Thank you :) I just saw my first ever piggy yawn  Widget was so kind to walk to the edge of his tube squeak and then stretched and yawned at me, i squeed out loud and now want to get a camera on them the whole time and just realized i am their slave :p

Ooo that is adorable! They stick their little tongues out when they yawn!

Yup i saw a little piggy tongue and how can we not be slaves to their cuteness! I've had them for 1 day and i can already see they're going to be majorly spoiled :p

I took this video too
and wanted to make sure that Kahlua is doing normal behavior with the laying down and wiggling? :S

:drool: Kahlua and Widget are gorgeous, all normal behavior there. Younger piggies action are more jerky and fast they slow down as they get older.:) The wriggling is nothing to worry about they are just getting comfy.

Thank you :) happy to hear it's all normal :) We do make each other jump with their jerkyness and my sneezing :lol!:

Yup :agr:

I reckon maybe next time Kahlua might do a yawn whilst wriggling to get comfy . Love how Widget was getting the carrot up on its end to eat
Two sweeeeeeet piggies thanks for sharing pigtures n vids :drool:

That's great! :)
I assume you have seen the gallery on here? Plenty of inspiration and lovely piggy homes (and piggies!) to look at :)

Yup that's what made me decide on a c&c cage, there is one in particular that i'm going to steal most of the design from, i'll have to go find it again to give due credit :$ There are gorgeous piggies on here! I've wanted to comment oooo's and awwww's but figured i won't spam the forums just yet ;)

Please DO flood us with piccies! :)

Aw they are absolutely gorgeous. Took me a while to figure out what a popcorn was too while I was researching them. I wondered - is it a sound they make? Then I saw a you-tube video and twigged :)

One of mine popcorned a lot (still does but not quite so often), so much that I nick-named her Penny-Pops. Penny had a thing where she would popcorn until she was tired out and then popcorn lying down - just lay there jerking and flipping herself whilst lying down! It was more pronounced than Kahlua but it could be that Kahlua is feeling excited, but physically a bit tired and is jerking around a bit. They don't seem able to contain their excitement sometimes - no matter what position they're in! It's like, "I'm wanting a nap now, but I'm still feeling 'stoked' and my body needs to show it"

Hehe i will do i promise :) i'll keep flooding until someone tells me to stop :p
Thank you very much :) i think i did get lucky with them, they are similar but so different. Widget has the cutest crown right ontop of her head, i've tried rubbing the hair back but it just keeps popping out again, does give him a different look, apparently his mom has the same, she's caramel brown with a white tuft right ontop of her head.

Awww yours sounds cute!
I'm just happy mine was so happy they popcorned on my 2nd day :) now i'm gonna find more things to make them happy with! I am heading to the petshop tonight for some treats and bits seeing as it is payday and i'm too impatient to wait for all the orders to be delivered :))

I can see a piggy-addict in the making - in fact one already made! :)

Sorry for butting in I hope you don't mind - Please stay away from the generic rodent treats - especially those full of grains and held together with honey. Guinea pigs need a low grain diet and low sugar, and really I don't think there are any pet shop food treats that are actually suitable for piggies, even when they show a pig on the packet. They do it to get as many sales as possible.

For food treats they love coriander and can have several sprigs throughout the day. They make for great treats, healthy too, and are often a piggy-favourite :)

xx

Please please never say sorry for butting in! I'm still a newbie so easily fooled by petshops 'good for piggies' treats :( very glad you told me before i went, instead i'll go by the supermarket and splurge on some coriander and and and? more suggestions? :p
What about the chew things, like the mineral cubes supposed to be good for helping keep teeth under control?
Any no no's about the fleecy beds or straw/stick bridges, balls and houses?

And yup i'm so an addict already! :)

Glad you were not offended :)

No need for mineral blocks or salt licks or any of the like :) Their gnawing habits are individual to the piggy, but many don't feel the need to gnaw much more than fresh hay. They need this at all times for the fibre and for their teeth. Some enjoy gnawing on wood, I had one who chose plastic and I wished she would gnaw on wood! Some gnaw on the bars but sometimes it's a way of getting your attention as they want food and they want it NOW! :) Quicker than now! tee hee.

Treats are often best when they are simple - such as plain paper bags filled with hay, or kitchen roll rubes, slit down the middle length-ways so they won't get stuck if they poke their heads in (and it's another safe thing to gnaw on), you can fill these with hay too :) Boxes. All of mine like to gnaw on cardboard to a greater or lesser degree.

Have you heard of fleece forests? If not I'll tell you or try to find a thread.

I'm cooking tea so haven't the time to find threads right now but there's some really good ones on treats and toys. Oh and some enjoy jingly bell balls, like the ones for cats :) Mine don't but some absolutely love them!

Tunnels, they LOVE tunnels :)

Ofcourse not! :) Can always do with more advice :)

Ah! that explains why Kahlua gave the cage bars a few nibbles and looked at me then nibbles some more, i'm a bad mommy for not jumping to his call :( I will know for future and react quicker with food.
I do have a log with some carrots in it that came with them and Widget seems to like gnawing on that, i took a video but will upload when i get home(still at work:oops:)

I've never heard of fleece forests, but i bullied google and they seem interesting, i'll have to investigate more, thanks :D Think i will have a read on the threads some more before i go buying things :) now you mention it i did see a thread about treats and such, impatience ate my brain! :p

Thanks for all the helpfull advice :D if you have more to share i'm happy to listen :D

I'm absolutely livid at the moment! The guy i got the piggies from works with animals and he told me he had cleaned the cage a day or so before he brought them to me(3days ago), today finally was pay day and i ran to the petshop to get some bedding and things so i can clean out the cage... i was horrified when i started moving the top layer of shavings away to discover about 10-15cm of old stinky caked shavings and mueslie and hay mess! i can't believe they were in the cage with that! and i can't believe he would let the cage get that way! I've washed, scrubbed and disinfected the cage and put the new bedding in with their new snuggie, tunnel, bowls and hay ball and the result just made me happy, they have been nonstop going since i introduced them into the new cage, way more vocal, active and just generally busy little piggies. Still uploading the 2nd video but here is the 1st one
The noise they keep doing with wiggling their hips is at 1:46 - think this is rumble strutting? usually followed by popcorning(or bucking?!) and dashing around, they do it a lot more in the 2nd video. At 2:19 Widget finally get's in the snuggie:yahoo:

Here's the other video :)
Those are happy popcorns or did i misread some body language? (sorry for asking again :( just want to make sure i don't interpret an important sign as something else)
