Hi guys sorry if this has been posted before, I just needed some advice, we have two male pigs which we’ve had for about 5 months l, they were adopted and they were about 6 months when we got them, however I don’t think they were from the same litter

I was thinking about possibly trying to introduce a baby pig to them very gradually, a male, by keeping them in separate cages and letting them interact with each other in a neutral space.

Is this something that would be okay to do because we were advised by the woman in the shop that this wouldn’t work and there was a 95% chance they would attack each other but all the posts I’ve read say it would be fine so I’m confused!

Thanks in advance

Please don’t introduce another piggy to them. The woman in shop was very correct. Males work best in pairs and no more. Yes, there are a few rare occasions when they do but the chances of that are slim to none.

The pair that you have are also still in their teenage years.

If you feel you want more piggies then adopt another pair separately but don’t introduce any more to the existing pair.

She woman is 100% correct, two males must stay two males.

I agree with what has been said above, if you have a search of this forum you will see that trios of boars hardly ever work out and the worst case scenario would be that you end up with three pigs who refuse to live with any of the others. If you have two males with a good bond it is simply not worth the risk. Also, for future information, play dates don't work either. Each time pigs are introduced to each other they have to start dominance all over again which can put a lot of stress on them. If you are bonding any pigs in future bear that in mind and commit enough time to see the bond through to the end rather than separating after short spells together

So glad you contacted the forum before you got a third, it can be a total disaster which can result in having 3 boars all in separate cages due to major fallouts x
