Hey everyone, newbie here :) Thought I would introduce my darling piglets :)

Bubbles and Patch are brothers, theyre mother is my sisters piggy, she bought her from a pet shop got her home, and a while later we realised she was pregnant! Really bad form on the pet shop, but it was alright, as we used to breed guinea pigs before, so we knew the drill So here are them when they were just about 10 mins old...with their sister Stripe. Bubbles is the blonde one and Patch is the black and white one...

Then once the babies started to mature, and got the "needing to be sexed" age, we (stupidly) took them to the pet stores vet to be sexed as we wernt sure about Bubbles...I knew Patch was a boy and Stripe a girl. Bubbles was a girl (apparently), stripe was a girl and patch was a boy...I had aggreed to have any boys that were born, so I had Patch. We had a spare hutch, so Patch lived there. After a while Bubbles and my sisters other adult guinea pig started to fight, so we removed Bubbles from the group. Soon then after that we discovered the mother was pregnant again! No, it wasnt Patch...the "vet" had sexed Bubbles wrong and he was a strapping young man! When I looked at them before we took them to be sexed I knew patch was a boy and stripe a girl, but i couldnt tell with Bubbles...odd I know...

So with Bubbles removed, I had him too. Unfortnately Stripe died after a few months, as we suspect bubbles might have done the dirty with her too and she was way too young for it (or because of some other random illness as there was no signs of fighting, blood, or malnutrition)

Well Bubbles and his mums baby was born, just a singular boy, looked just like his dad but didnt live very long :(

So there..I have 2 definate boys

Heres pics of them as adults

thank you :) they say "wheek wheek" hehe they had a bath yesterday so theyre all looking pretty and feel all soft and cuddly :) Bubbles even let us cut his claws, didnt put up a fight at all! bless :)

Also another thing they do is A) they wheek wheek REALLY loudly when we open the fridge/walk to the kitchen/rustle a plastic bag, *** they think theres food on the way and B) they have taught my eldest budgie how to make guinea pig noises...so now my budgie makes guinea pig noises....

heres a link to a vid of him making guinea noises....

They are very handsome boys indeed! x) I am sorry for all the ones you lost and poor mummy's back-to-back pregnancy.

Seeing how many people are ending up with pregnant girl on here, I get very angry that shops are not taken into account much more! I started my adult piggy life with a surprise pregnancy as well and have strictly stuck to reputable guinea pig rescues since!

Some guinea pig babies are very difficult to sex, especially by people with not much experience. We do have a couple of good links on here, should yo ever need them!

Have you found a better vet since? P@h vets as a rule seem to be particularly clueless considering that guinea pigs are one of the most frequent pets in there!

hey thank you all :) Ive not needed a vets since thankfully, although I may have to take patch to one soon (see the thread I posted in the welfare section). It was so easy to sex our first babies, just bubbles was a bit of a "perhaps he hid it" when we looked lol

I think when I next get piglets I will definately go to a rescue shelter or a breeder...boycotting the pet shops!

Also another thing they do is A) they wheek wheek REALLY loudly when we open the fridge/walk to the kitchen/rustle a plastic bag, *** they think theres food on the way

Roxy does this, every time she hears rustling she wheeks or if we walk past her cage into the kitchen. We've only had her a few days, shes catching on quick!

Your boys are lovely

lol thank you all :) and little piggles...we now call Jojo the budgie "budgie pig" like spider pig from the simpsons film hehe "budgie pig, budgie pig, does whatever a budgie pig does" hehe

Sometimes he winds the guinea pigs up, by making the wheek wheek noise, they think theres food on the way *** someones making the noise so they all start! its like theyre saying "oi....foood.....noowww......!" hehe

hehe all my boys have such characters, and once my new budgies out of quarantine and goes in with budgie pig, I'm sure we will then have 2 budgie pigs once Jojo gets to teach Mojo the wheek wheek! lol so we may end up with 4 pets making the noise, with only half being actual guinea pigs :p
