Hi all, as many of you know I lost my beloved boy Diesel earlier in the week. For Buddy's sake we decided to get him a new friend, the decision was not easy, I am grieving for my boy and I feel that it is too soon but Buddy is lost without his companion.

Herbie is 6 weeks old and his mother was rescued by the local dog warden from people who got a female piggie from the PAH adoption section, then went back and bought a male. The piggies run loose in the garden! They have bred multiple times, they are not given food, dogs get into the garden, and there are dead pigs lying about, The warden, who I know and used to work with was horrified and Informed the SSPCA but hasn't heard anything from them yet.

The warden took as many as she could to live with her and inevitably one of the sows gave birth to Herbie and his three sisters. He was put in with a pair of boars but they bullied him and he became nervous, so after seeing an add on the local community website we found Herbie.

He is so cute and he has rosettes? ( swirly hair ) and an enormous wheek. I think we have a right character on our hands!

Oh Jenny, what a horrific story! Those owners should be jailed! Herbie is beautiful. I'm so glad he is with you.

I could hardly believe it, winter's up here are hard and it just made David and I feel sick, there are some right bad :cen: out there. The warden tackled PAH about the adoption service and lack of home checks etc, water of a ducks back. I really hope the SSPCA gets its finger out and saves the rest of the piggies and takes the real animals to court.

I really hope so too. Why bother adopting then neglecting them and actually not feeding them! How sick is that.

I don't even know if those poor piggies have any shelter, and it is cold, wet and windy up here tonight.

Poor Ann the warden, she told me the  were literally throwing piggies at her to take away, and she may be in for more babies, as she didn't know boars had to be separated from sows at three weeks.

Okay they did not know but after it happened once why didn't they get help and why are they letting them live outside! They are scum.

Welcome to Herbie, and its lovely to see you in a safe home now.... but I am horrified by your story.

piggyfan is right it is right they are horrible people. I want to go and rescue those poor garden piggies. They wont survive a winter in Scotland surely? I have 3 empty hutches in my garage. I wish I could get to the piggies :(

I know Cassandra, I feel a mixture of rage and helplessness, it's just as well I don't know exactly where they came from, and to be honest I'm not that confident about the SSPCA getting off their backsides and doing their jobs.

Oh my god thats awful! So glad you got to save one of them! Going to tell Mr about this... we have been considering more but now there are piggies that need a forever home, now.

Its awful that the female came from the pets at home adoption centre, just imagine if someone gave up their pig thinking that it was a better option than rehoming privately and then this happens :(

I think that Ann, the warden's piggie may be pregnant too, as Herbie was with her for over the recommend three weeks, keep a lookout on Caithness.org, or I could try and contact her if you want.

We all know PAH don't give a monkey's about the animals, but this scenario is truly sickening. No home checks, no nothing, apart from poor piggies living and dying in misery.

:( Awful absolutely awful.

So glad Herbie has a safe home with you, he is gorgeous, very unique looking I think  I can't wait to see lots more of him Jenny, he has landed on all 4 paws with you and David x

Are there any rescues in Scotland that could co-ordinate a rescue effort to get the rest out of the garden? And then to foster homes or other rescue spaces across the UK? It does just sound so appalling, normally I think "Thats really sad but you see so many in need" when it comes to pigs needing homes but this is a very unusual and awful situation.
I know that @lisaali live in Scotland, but I dont think its anywhere near you but perhaps they have contacts?

I'm cold in my house now, and those poor piggies must be freezing, quite literally.

@jenny57 can you please Pm us the details of these piggies and we will contact Joanne at hutches, who has some very senior contacts at the SSPCA, then maybe something can be done about this awful situation, Thanks @Goth Mummy for alerting us to this...

Lisa & Ali.. x

What an awful story. All those poor little helpless piggies. Were the dogs in that household attacking the piggies? Maybe the "people" bought the piggies as playthings for the dogs? Some people buy them to feed to their pet snakes. I hope those "people" get what they deserve. They are scum.

Omg! Thats a awful story, i hope those ppl get arested and are never allowed to have pets again, they dont deserve them.
thank goodness that warden person is keeping an eye on the situation.
Herbie is a very Handsome fellow and he sounds like a sweetie pie :san::luv:

Herbie is so beautiful! You're a star for giving him the life he so deserves after his bad beginnings in his new forever home.
