We very sadly lost our 6-year-old piggie, Leela, last week. She had been living with 2-year-old Tomie for the past two years. Tomie is probably best described as high-strung or anxious and was not dealing very well with being on her own. She was spending 90% of her time in the pigloo and would startle really easily to sights and sounds that didn't bother her when Leela was there with her. So even though we didn't feel quite ready yet, we decided it was best to find her a friend sooner rather than later. Hence, we have come home with a new baby, Misa! We don't feel quite ready yet, but I can tell we are going to grow to love her, she's an outgoing, confident little piggie and already likes the humans. We introduced her and Tomie today because she was too young for us to want to do much quarantine time, and they were both really happy to check each other out and have been getting along great since then. Hopefully she will be good for Tomie (and good for us as well as we move through grieving and get to know her better.)
We picked her out because we thought she looked like a synthesis of two of our past pigs, Linney and Hadley, and because she seemed outgoing and playful with the other pigs she was being kept with. Anyone know what this color is? She's clearly agouti, but seems lighter in color than Hadley, who was lemon agouti. Is cream agouti a thing that exists?
Here she is kissing ears with Tomie when we did introductions... she seemed to take the lead here and did most of the "getting to know you" overtures while Tomie followed her around... I'm thinking that Tomie may be second fiddle to a little baby! LOL!
