Hi, looking for some advice on rehoming a 10 week old boar and pairing with my two 6 month old boars in my 6x3 (plus run when I’m home) would they get on ?

Boars are very hard to bond sometimes it will work or sometimes u could end up with 3 single boars. But this isn't the case for everyone I have a 4 boar herd they work well because of my pigs personalities. The best advice I can give and many people will say it your better of getting a friend to pair with the baby piggie. U can try but u do run the risk of having 3 boars who wont pair with another pig

Hi and welcome!

In short - adding a third boar to a bonded pair is not a good idea; but at the age your two boys are at right now, it is pretty much a recipe for disaster! :(

Here are some links that you may find very helpful to learn more about boars, teenage and which combinations work:

Ok thanks for your help, had a read and decided I don’t want to risk it !

Thank you!

And good on you that you are asking beforehand and not starting out with a thread titled 'My boars are fighting'... :tu:

Considering the fact that guinea pigs are social species, they have every bit as complex personalities and a complex social life as humans!
The longer I have them, the more I am convinced that they are just small people in a fur coat...

Your two boys are currently at the age where testosterone literally sings through their body. Starting a new hierarchy sort-out with all the ensuing dominance behaviours during bonding would be like pouring petrol on a barbecue fire.
