awwwww shes a beauty, everybody has new piggies :smitten: :smitten:

she is SOOOO ickle.

We really thought about it as ours are in the garage now for the winter and didnt think it was fair. Then we weighed up the fact that she will be given the best life with us so a while in the garage over winter far outstrips living with some retards and having a crap life.

CONGRATULATIONS :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

She's just gorgeous and yes soooo tiny :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

You've wonderful, well done for giving her a forever home O0 0:)

I'm a little worried thou, is she ok in a cage with 5 other piggies who are all alot bigger than her? The hutch is big enough but it must be pretty daunting for her

this is what i asked before as i got a baby yesterday and i have two huge sows and was worried if they picked on her or stood on her :-\ but I'm just taking it one step at a time and introducing them slowly O0

She's gorgeous, she does look tiny! :smitten:

I'm sure she'll be fine, she'll feel safe with all those 'aunties' around, I'm sure she'd be more scared if she was alone. :)

Is there maybe a tube or something only she can get into if she needs someplace to 'escape' to?

I personally have never had this experience, but everyone always says take it one step at a time... you know intro over a period of time till you think they're bonded :smitten:

Is she a good eater? :smitten:

Moet, the queen of the group has taken a liking to her.

Funny thing was when we got her home, we set a run up in the conservatory (as seen in the pic) and let her settle for about 10mins by herself. We then introduced the others 1 by 1 starting with Moet as she is the leader. Lanson had been very quiet and not doing much but as soon as we got the others in, she completely chanegd and started scuttling around and sniffing her new sisters. I love these creatures so much.

In fact I was at an assessment day recently for a new job and we had to do an icebreaker (your name, 3 facts about you and what animal would you be).

Being it was a sales job, you got all the usual crap, Lion, bear, wolf, with some lame reasons Wolf: Individual but likes to be part of a pack. Really slimy sales stuff. What did I pick? Piggie!

I said, they are social and funloving and just love to eat :) The 11 other people going for the job and the people holding the day just looked at me like I was 98)

I got the job ;D

yeah, she had been on pellets and hay so she found our superguinea mix a complete treat and she took to lettuce and carrot quickly. Ate from our hands very quickly which is a good sign as the others took a while to trust us.

She came from P@H and they even tried to sell us their food so we could ween her off it. Is that true or just a underhanded sales trick? No one has ever mentioned that to us before

WOW she sounds a really sociable little one :) :) :)
Isn't that great that she started to interact so quickly with her new sisters awwwwwwwww

Hay btw CONGRATS on getting the job with your 'piggie' stories ;D ;D ;D so glad you got it and not the others.... O0

Gorgeous, congrats on the new piggy. :smitten: :smitten:

Yeah they were actually being quite responsible trying to sell you some of their food as most people would add new food gradually to the old food to try and avoid stomach upsets.

Yes i've always weened mine off foods, especially babies, gives them a bit of familiarity too xx

I had never heard that before so I thought it was them upselling. The 4 or 5 sows in the cage were all eating the hay as I think the pellets are really bland. She took to our mix instantly and there hasnt been any bad droppings..

You were really lucky then! Just bear it in mind when introducing any new foods - grass can be tricky in Spring as they really love it and gorge on it, then have bad poohs. Good luck O0

Some have strong stomachs, i think the majority of the time it would be fine but i think some are sensitive to changes so best to be safe than sorry i suppose, its up to you though lol! x

I'm actually quite pleased with that as yes, it is true, especially with such a young piggy,l you should switch the food over gradually. Every piggy leaves my rescue with at least a weeks worth of food so they can be weaned. I dont know what you are feeding her, but I would definately stick with a pellet to prevent selective eating :)

she seems to have settle in really well with the other 5. She is eating the super mix we have and also loves the fresh veggie treats we give them every day.....

Ill post some more pics soon :P
