On Saturday, we adopted three gorgeous girlies from Woodgreen! Their names are Peri, Martha and Rose, after Doctor Who companions.
While Peri is fairly confident and easy-going, Martha and Rose needed a home with experienced piggy owners as they are very skittish due to not being handled very much. We were actually bracing ourselves for much worse than what we got with Martha and Rose - I don't think they'll have any trouble settling in here. Rose is actually very good being handled, although she doesn't like sudden movements and has to be held firmly. Martha is probably the worst - she does not like cuddles and tries to bury her head in my lap or arm, or try to jump off! They are all still very nervous, though, and have spent most of the weekend hiding away in their houses (although I've spotted them out a couple of times). I'm about to go and give them some cucumber to try and coax them out.
Peri and Rose are quite small at 739g and 790g, respectively. We'll see whether that changes! Martha is an ideal 1040g and looks very healthy.
We had hoped that the trio would integrate with our existing herd, and that one (Peri the most ideal) could be a companion for Glinda, but a rather unfortunate incident yesterday means that is not going to happen!
Peri (right, Himalayan), Martha (back, Abyssinian) and Rose (Swiss)
Little Peri (sneaky Elma in the background)
Very naughty Rose
Bit camera shy
Peri is very fast, so not many photos of her!
