Sarah from Chucklebunnies
Adult Guinea Pig
Tallulah was collected from Hull Rabbit Rescue today, she came down from the North in as part of an RSPCA confiscation, HRR got 9 of the 22 rescued piggies. I was very very happy to get a new girl, and we named her Talullah in the car on the way home. She is a little dark brown scruffy girl, with rosettes in her fur.
The 20 minute drive gave me time to rub her with a damp towel that my other four girls had been 'using' so it had their scent all over it. Behind the ears and on the bottom especially. When she was put into the run (after a quick examine looking for pests) she made for the fleece that hangs in a kind of tent and hid. (My piggies have rather a lot of the conservatory floor)

It took her a while to come out and look for food, during this time Carmeline (you can just see her ginger nose) who is the oldest and top pig inspected her without any ructions or comments.
I put out veg to avoid them all charging over to harass the newcomer - I wanted there to be gradual introductions. But she made her way out shyly....

Then the others noticed her and introduced themselves.

Lola, who was the last to introduce herself, decided to take on the role of mum and has been guarding and protecting her ever since. (This shows Lola's face and talullah's bottom under the fleece tent)

All is going very well, I think there should be no problems.
I would like to point out that if you are uncertain about the origin of your piggy then do have a quarantine period before introducing them to your other piggies. I felt it wasn't necessary with this one.
