Hi everyone!

My name is Brandi and I am the proud owner of two beautiful piggies. Moe is 6 months old and Coffee bean(we call him bean for short) is 6 weeks. I got them both from Pet smart( didn't realize all the other options out there until i read on here). Any way's I got Moe in May and in July we got another piggie(Snoball) from Petco I started the quarantine process and so thankful I did b/c poor Snoball was Ill from the get go. I noticed he was very shy but thought it was his nature and over night he became so ill by the next morning we found him dead in his cage. :( So I was very leery of getting another one b/c I did not want Moe to get sick and die. Well we decided to get another one and went back to Pet smart b/c Moe never had any sickness and we found Bean and went through the quarantine just introducing them today for the first time. Of course Moe mounted him right off the bat. I figured that was coming. So they ran around, went back and forth smelling each other and then got a bit aggressive. Moe nipped at beans nose causing a small scratch so I removed Bean and now all they do is weak/squeak at each other. Their cages are by each other(Moe's is the bigger cage, Bean is in the smaller one) and bite at their cages whining at each other. Is this normal? Should we keep them together longer? It just worries me due to the size difference and the fight they had. How should we keep approaching the process?

Sorry this got so long, just looking for any advice and help to make this as smooth as possible for them both. Thanks so much!

Hi!

I am a newbie owner and also got my boys from a pet shop. TBH i just put my two in together and let them get on with it. They did the whole mounting, running about with teeth chattering etc on and off for a while and then after a few days of teeth chattering and chasing each other away if one invaded the others space they just seemed to settle down. Now they have such a great bond they prefer each other to me so i am literally the cook and cleaner!
I would suggest trying to introduce them each day for short bursts until you are happy they have settled and can be trusted to be on their own together. Is your cage big enough? My two were so much better since my O/H made their new pen which is 4ftx2ft with a upper smaller level. Also two of everything - hides, bowls chew toys etc.

Hope that helps! x
