So today we introduced JP to the girls, everything went well on neutral ground. Lots of bum sniffing and chasing. The girls gave him a good squeak when he got too much.

Now they are in the cage together with all new cosies and stuff so it smells new. There was quite abit of teeth chattering and nipping between JP and Gloria(dominant sow) it looked quite nasty to me, but no blood or injurys inflicted. Then they all fell asleep! Obviously tired from all the excitement.

Now JP and Gloria are back in the same area, tiny bit of teeth chattering and bum wiggling from Gloria but thats it. Now abit of sniffing each other.

Moe has stayed hidden the entire time!

I think its going ok. All of this seems pretty normal right?

Oh and just a quick question, after a boar has been neutered does he still have boar juice? But obviously no active spearms in it?

The boar can still breed for 4 weeks after neutering (some say 6 weeks).

I imagine, they still have boar juice, my Fred has his bits so I'm not sure, but I've never noticed boar juice lol.

Sounds normal enough to be the fact they haven't fought is a good thing.

Well I read loads of different things on the internet, and most said 3-4 weeks and our vet said 2 so we have waited 3 and a half. I also went through a thread on here where a persons boar hadnt been neutered properly and piggies got pregnant, and i read everybodys comments about how long they had waited when it was them etc.

I also found this website very informative http://jackiesguineapiggies.com/neutering.html she also waited 3 weeks.

Ive read on here about boar juice being quite smelly! I definately noticed a strange smell haha.

They are all asleep again now.

Edit - oh and there has been no actual mounting so far, just chasing.

Boars do have a smell they give off, Fred has never done it but Marvin stunk. I think it depends on the pig. I would say they are bonded now!

Its kinda funny that Moe has hidden the whole time. You get the impression she is gonna come out in abit and say "right, now you've both calmed down I will be friends with you again" :)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for happy pigs and no immaculate conseptions!

Good luck with everything :) However, there have been members on here who have had 'accidents' where females have became pregnant because they have put the male in to soon. From what I know, it is best to leave a male for 6 weeks after being neutered before they are introduced to a female. Just be carful :) x

I understand what your saying. But at the same time he is in now, so worrying over the decision isnt going to help me. Me and my OH made the decision based on what we had read, been told, and the fact that we didnt want JP to be on his own longer than neccesary.

I hope we have made the right decision. Only time will tell now.

the introduction sounds pretty normal and OK to me... It will get a bit livelier when one of the sows comes into season!

The longer you wait the safer you are that your boy hasn't got any "golden shots" left.

Everything still ok this morning. JP is clearly in his element. He hasnt stopped popcorning all morning! Its alot nosier than it used to be. They all seem to chatter and squeak more now.

I'm confident in our decision, and if the worst was to happen we will deal with it then. I dont think that waiting 3 weeks instead of say 6, means they will definately get pregnant. Its still only a very small chance, not as small as 6 weeks, but still small.

I feel abit sorry for my girls, they are not used to all this attention! I think it will be a few days before JP calms down.

To be honest, Ive been worrying myself silly over this "golden shots" thing. And I'm sure I would have been the same no matter how long we waited.and I dont think I will be truly relaxed about it till the end of next month when I will know if there has been any accidents or not.

I know I shouldnt worry cos I can hardly do anything about it, but boy is this a stressful time!

I'm a born worrier! I dont regret putting him in, I just hope it all goes ok. My OH cant stand me when I'm like this.

In better news, JP has already started coming out of his shell more, he's wheeking with the other two when its food time and everything :)

He'll calm down; it looks like he has found the "on" switch for his brain again!

Playing the percentages is sadly never easy.

I have an exceptionally cute one of Gloria going for Fattest Pig in the World Ever!

Oh and I gave my 2 cents in your H&I thread. Id say dont worry, but if your anything like me that wont make a difference.

This morning I feel wuite sorry for JP, he clearly hasnt managed to have his way with either of the girls, every attempt we have seen(and weve seen alot!) has ended with him being nipped or pee'd on! Poor guy must be so frustrated haha

Hiya - just to add I waited 4 weeks and 4 and a half weeks (Guinealynx say 3 to 4 weeks) and no pregnancies here. I wish I were more patient to wait the 6 but my poor fellas were on their own and I felt sorry for them.

My vet told me 4.

It will calm down - he will get his way (it's over in a flash) when she's ready. And in the months that mine have been together it's gotten calmer and calmer.

technically it was 3 weeks and 2 days. I felt the same for JP. He was always wheeking for the girls when he could here them and it broke my heart!

I'm sure it will calm down :) Thanks for the advice.
